2020 Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show On NAS Pensacola Is Canceled

August 11, 2020

The 2020 Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show on NAS Pensacola has officially been canceled.

The Navy said the decision to canceled the October 16-17 show was made after considering all possible options, but was fundamentally a decision to ensure the health and safety  personnel and the greater community.

“We know how important the Air Show is to the community and the Navy, but after considering every possibility, we felt that in this challenging COVID-19 environment that this was the most responsible course of action to protect the health and safety of the community and our NAS Pensacola personnel,” said Capt. Tim Kinsella, commanding officer, NAS Pensacola.

“The Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show is a special and unique event that we look forward to every year. We love to highlight the amazing people of Naval Aviation and share a spectacular Air Show with our friends, families and community. This was an extremely difficult decision in challenging times, but in the end, we must remember that our top priority is to ensure the safety of our community,” Kinsella continued.

The annual two-day air show attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to NAS Pensacola; the 2019 air show had an approximate attendance of 180,000.

The 2021 Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show is currently scheduled for November 5-6, 2021, and will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Blue Angels.

    @BRING IT ON

    That would be great! We could shut down the country for 3-4 weeks like every other civilized country in the world, then go back to our normal lives!

    We started a quarantine, the number of infections started to drop, people decided that staying home was hard and that getting a haircut was more important than protecting their neighbors, then here we are with 170,000 dead Americans.

    Why don’t we just cancel everything and become hermits. Totally shutdown the economy and go back to living in caves. That’ll fix everything.

    YES.

    When are people going to start acting like there’s a pandemic? You want it to be over and start having events? Do your part through wearing a mask, washing your hands, and social distancing.

    We have turned into a pansy country. Afraid and offended at everything.

    I understand not having show at NAS. What they COULD do is fly the two county area on a published date… or several dates. Something like this: take off go East down Santa Rosa Sound to Navarre, go north up Blackwater Bay and river through Milton, Whiting and Jay then West to Century, South down Escambia river and bay, west down the bay to buzz downtown, across to Perdido bay and Perdido Key back to NAS. The team could do basic maneuvers and be their noisy selves all the way.
    Fun for the most people without being crammed together.
