Michael Leonard Jennings ,56, of Cantonment, FL, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2020. He was born in Pensacola, FL, and had 8 siblings.
He was a graduate of J. M. Tate High School and attended technical college in Tampa for two years. After his schooling he worked at Gayfers Department Store for many years. He then changed careers and went to work for BFI which later became Republic lndustries as a dispatcher. Mike was an avid reader and read thousands of books over the years and dearly loved Alabama football.
He was raised attending Gonzalez Baptist Church where he was saved and baptized. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes and he always enjoyed time spent at the family’s Perdido Bay fish camp. He was so proud of his granddaughter Ali and relished all of the time he spent with her. Michael considered family his greatest treasure.
He was preceded in death by his father, Philip W. Jennings Sr.; mother, Ruth Marjorie Jennings; brother, James Myrick Jennings; sisters, Carolyn J. Handler; and Faye Ellen Mitchell.
Michael is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Jennings Nathey; son-in-law, Logan Nathey; his granddaughter, Ali Nathey; along with brothers: Philip W. Jennings Jr., and Henry F. Jennings; sisters: Phyllis Marjorie Gates (Buddy), Virginia Weinman, and Ruthie Jennings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August l, 2020 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Pastor Norman Sullivan officiating. lnterment will follow at Gonzalez United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. prior to services.
Pallbearers will be: Ralph Handler lll, Scott Handler, Jason Gates, Brandon Weinman, Patrick Wilson and Sean Wilson.
