The West Florida Public Libraries name is a holdover from years ago. WFPL is currently a department and service of Escambia County. The West Florida Regional Library system (run by the City of Pensacola, jointly funded by the city and both counties) served Escambia and Santa Rosa counties for many years, until about 2006 when SR broke off to do their own thing. At that time, the name of this system was changed to West Florida Public Library. In 2013, Escambia County took over administration of the library system and the name was adjusted again to West Florida Public Libraries.
And why are resumes being submitted to the person who answers to the Board of Governance? Why are the resumes not submitted to the County Commissioners responsible for selecting members of the BoG. It just seems a little strange that the library director, or his staff, could have first chop at the stack of applicants.
