Sixth Red Bulb Placed On Fire Safety Wreath For Another Residential Fire

The sixth red bulb representing a residential fire in Escambia County was placed on the “Keep the Wreath Green” fire safety wreath on Friday.
The sixth fire occurred in the 100 block of S. 2nd St. on Friday, Dec. 13. ECFR arrived on scene and saw smoke coming from a residential structure. Units quickly confined the fire to the room of origin and extinguished it in 20 minutes. At the time, no occupants were home, but smoke alarms alerted the neighbors.
The firth red bulb was added to the wreath for a predawn fire Thursday in Byrneville. Escambia County Fire Rescue arrived on scene to find a fully involved residential fire in the 1500 block of West Highway 4. Everyone in the home escaped without injury due to working smoke alarms and the dog alerting the family.
The State Fire Marshal is also investigating the cause of both fires.

West Defeats The East 26-16 In Subway All-Star Football

Test West beat Team East 26-16 Friday night in the 2019 Subway High School All Star Football game Friday night at Blue Wahoos Stadium.
JaKobi Jackson of Catholic High School started the scoring for the night off early in the first quarter. After a couple of powerful run, Northview High’s Trent Peebles was in, giving Team West an early 14-0 lead. Team East battled back for a TD in the second quarter by Trace Sears of Crestview High School, only to be matched by another touchdown by Team West’s Jackson. Curtis Jefferson of Pine Forest scored in the third to bring the score to 26-14. A two-point conversion rounded out the night, bringing the final score to 26-16, Team West.
Test West was the best high school senior football players from Escambia County, while Team East was the best from Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties in the 16th annual matchup.

West Offensive MVP: JaKobi Jackson, Catholic High School
East Defensive MVP: Andrew White, Pace High School

Live Nativity: ‘Night In Bethlehem’ Sunday Evening In Molino

Highland Baptist Church will host “Night in Bethlehem” on Sunday from 5:30 until 7 p.m. Visitors can taste, smell, feel and experience what Bethlehem was like on that wondrous night. There will be a live Nativity with live animals, along with the opportunity to visit the marketplace, see the potter, taste the bread, hear the angels and talk with Mary and Joseph.
Admission is free. Highland Baptist Church is located at 6240 North Highway 95A in Molino.

Tate High Aggie Soccer Beats Crestview 2-0

The Tate Aggies picked up the win 2-0 over Crestview at home Friday night.
Tate’s Player of the Game Matt Johnson scored both goals for the Aggies.
Tate, now 9-1 on the season, will host East Hill Christian on Saturday and host Navarre on Monday.

Ms. Carrie Elaine Knowles, age 48, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019, in Pensacola, Florida.
Ms. Knowles was a native of Century, FL, former resident of Niceville, FL (where she spent most of her life) and has resided in Milton, FL for the past 10 years. She was of the Baptist faith. She is preceded in death by her mother, Sherry Lynn Powell and sister, Kendall Knowles.
She is survived by her father, Curtis (Angela) Knowles of Flomaton, AL; one son, Shawn (Brittany) Knowles of Panama City, FL; two daughters, Shanelle (Levi) Landsverk of Milton, FL and Breana Knowles of Niceville, FL; two brothers, Kenneth J. (Hallie) Knowles of Pace, FL and Bradley Knowles of Pace, FL; sister by love, Amanda Johnson of Niceville, FL; six grandchildren, Grayson, Breadon, Chase, Marshall, Oliver and Calaina and aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 15, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel with Bro. Farron Wilson officiating.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 15, 2019, from 1 p.m. until service time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes is in charge of all arrangements.
Markquise Wallace Gets Max Sentence Of 65 Years For Double Fatal Hit And Run

Markquise Deshawn Wallace was sentenced Friday to 65 year is state prison for a double fatal hit and run in Escambia County. That was the maximum sentence allowed under state law.
Wallace must serve 85%, or just over 55 years, of the sentence, according to State Attorney Bill Eddins. His driver’s license was also permanently revoked under the sentence handed down by Judge Lacey Powell Clark.
Three people were crossing Cervantes Street near M Street when they were hit by a Dodge Challenger driven at a high rate of speed by Wallace, according to Pensacola Police. Neariaah Ikerria Williams, age 8 months, and a family friend, 28-year-old Nephateria Monique Williams, died. The child’s mother, 27-year-old Quineka Tyon Baldwin, was injured.
A jury deliberated for about four hours November 8 before finding Wallace guilty on two counts of vehicular homicide, two counts of failing to remain at a crash site involving death and one count of tampering with an electronic monitoring device.
Suspect In Four Escambia Florida Armed Robberies Caught In Flomaton

A suspect wanted for four armed robberies in Escambia County, FL, has been arrested in Flomaton.
Donald Lamar May of Flomaton (pictured above left) was taken into custody early Friday morning after Flomaton Police responded to a suspicious person complaint on Titi Street. He was taken into custody and booked into the Escambia County (AL) Detention Center in Brewton to await extradition back to Florida.
May is wanted on multiple charges including armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of weapon during a felony for the December 4 robbery of a Dollar General on Mobile Highway, plus two Circle K stores and a Happy 7 store in Escambia County, according to Maj. Andrew Hobbs of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
Thomas Darrelle McNeal,, age 25 of Atmore, is also facing charges for the Mobile Highway Dollar General Robbery. McNeal (pictured above right) is being held in the Brewton jail on a charge of robbery first degree for the December 7 armed robbery of the Circle K on West Nashville Avenue.

Alabama Governor Orders Flags To Half Staff For NAS Pensacola Shooting Victim

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has ordered flags in Alabama to half staff on Sunday, December 22 the day of internment for Ensign Joseph Kaleb Watson, who was killed in the shooting onboard NAS Pensacola December 6.
Watson’s remains arrive Friday in his hometown of Enterprise, Alabama, in advance of funeral services on Sunday, December 22.
“Let us remember the life and service of Ensign Watson, who died as a hero trying to protect his fellow service members. We offer our heartfelt condolences and prayers to his family, friends and community,” Ivey said.
Watson and two other victims, Mohammed Sameh Haitham and Cameron Scott Walters, were posthumously promoted and awarded their wings of gold.
Flags across the entire state of Florida remained at half staff until sunset Friday, December 13 for all of the NAS Pensacola victims.

Cantonment Woman Charged As Accessory To Murder

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Cantonment woman with accessory after the fact in the shooting death of a Fort Walton Beach area man last month.
Investigators said 27-year old Carissa Lynn Parker shares a child with the victim, 35-year old Edgar Jennings.
Deputies responded to Jennings’ Culp Avenue home shortly before midnight on November 19 after receiving multiple 911 calls of shots fired. They found Jennings dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head outside a side door of his apartment.
During the course of the investigation, a “controlled phone call” to Parker was set up with the assistance of a relative. During that call, Parker admitted driving the shooting suspect to the scene and discussing with him ongoing issues she was having with Jennings.
Video footage from a home near Culp Avenue the night of the shooting shows the car Parker was driving arriving in the area approximately six minutes before the first 9-1-1 call came in. Approximately a minute after the calls started, the suspected shooter is seen getting back into the vehicle and leaving.
Investigators say during the controlled phone call Parker told her relative the suspect had pulled out a gun, she was terrified and that’s when things escalated.
At no time after the shooting did Parker attempt to contact law enforcement, despite knowing Jennings had been killed. She also assisted the suspected shooter by driving him away from the scene of the crime to avoid arrest, according to the Okaloosa Sheriff’s Office.
Get Well Soon: Sailors Sign Cards For NAS Shooting Victims

Sailors from NAS Pensacola signed get well soon cards at the Fleet and Family Support Center for the service members and first responders wounded during the active shooter event on Friday December 6, 2019. Three sailors died and eight other people were injured.
