Congratulations on this huge honor. I loved being in the band and becoming a majorette at Richbourg Jr. High in the 70s. Thank you for your influence on so many young people throughout the years.

Congrats my old friend! You taught us so much when you walked into your first band class. Your leadership shaped thousands of young people in Okaloosa and Escambia counties into fine musicians and student servants. Thanks for your support and friendship for over 50 years…yes, I am dating us badly old buddy.
Congrats from the Joachimi sisters.

Congrats!! I was in the drum line when you took over in 1987!! You had big shoes to fill and you did it perfectly! Lots of fond memories!!

Congrats Mr. Hooten! You have touched many a student’s life. I for one am honored that I had the opportunity to have you as a teacher.
Great man and helluva teacher who made a huge impact on my life in ways I wouldn’t understand until years later. I’m fortunate having been taught by him and worked with him as a tech on his staff. No one is more deserving of this honor more than Mr. Hooten!
Congratulations Joe. A job well done and many kids lives are the better after being taught music and examples to live by. I enjoyed working with you.
Best band director I have had the pleasure to learn from. Best years of my life was performing under tate high school 95-99. Such dedication to his students and the music. He has changed many lives, and brought so much joy to many students. Thank you Mr. Hooten it was an honor and privilege to learn from you.
Congratulations ! ! ! Well deserved. Great job!
CONGRATULATIONS! TOTALLY AGREE WITH RANDY NELSON. WELL DESERVED. REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME WE MET- TAKING A CLASS THAT WAS REQUIRED FOR ALL OF US IN OKALOOSA COUNTY. I THANK GOD EVERYDAY FOR GIVING ME THE HONOR AND PRIVILEGE TO BE YOUR FRIEND. YOUR LOVE OF MUSIC AND STUDENTS WAS SHOWN EACH TIME I SAW THEM PERFORM. YOU ARE ONE OF THE VERY VERY BEST. EACH LIFE YOU TOUCHED WILL ALWAYS A PRECIOUS MEMORY FOR AN ENTIRE LIFETIME. LOVE YOU AND SENDING HUGE HUGS!
Congratulations on this honor. Very deserving. I had two students under his leadership starting in 1987. Enjoyed being part of the Showband family.
CONGRATULATIONS to both Mr.Hooten and Mr.Steadman for this prestigious honor..MUSIC IS THE UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE and sometimes the only subject that keeps students in school…unfortunately it is also one of the first subjects eliminated in a financial crisis in the public school system
CONGRATULATIONS JOE!!!! Well deserved!!!
Congratulations, Mr. Hooten! We are so proud of you! Thank you for all the years that you loved your students (my kids) and instilled in them a love for music and a discipline to do everything that they do WELL and with integrity. It has served them well thus far in their lives. You taught them how far they can go by giving their very best in all that they set their hands to do… not just in band. You are an inspiration to us all! Thank you!
A big congrats Joe! Hard working and long career teaching kids music. Great job!
