Eight individuals ranging in age from 14 to 18 have been charged in a vehicle theft, vehicle burglary and robbery ring across three counties.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests on Thursday.

Those charged are: Terrance Anton Harris Jr., 18; Kody Allen Gresh, 18; Tony Lorenzo McGee, 16; Oreion Emanuel Lane, 17; Shawn Ladarius Albert, 14; Jacobi Donell Brown, 18; Roy Donta James III, 18; and Jacquavious Lamar Savage, 18.

“This group of young criminals have burglarized and stolen vehicles from Baldwin County, Alabama, Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa Counties in Florida,” the ECSO said in a statement. “In Escambia County alone, over the past two weeks, this group of suspects have burglarized a large number of unlocked cars and stolen 30 vehicles.”

The ECSO said the investigation is “far from over” and additional arrests are expected.

Regarding the possibility of being led by an adult, that’s simply not the case. These kids steal the cars to use as transportation around the areas to commit more crimes. It’s not a “chop shop” type operation which would require a higher order of planning. These “kids” have been “car hopping” in Escambia for several years. Two of those pictured I know were arrested just a couple of years ago under similar circumstances. One of the cars which had gone unrecovered was found years later abandoned in a wooded area. These guys are not smart enough to have a plan past the joy of the ride, and hoping the get a few guns from responsible owners.

You do the crime you do the time. Lock them up and teach them a lesson.

This is solely an opinion, but I could see there being an older individual or group of older individuals that may be heading this operation and the young men are just their piglets doing the dirty work! Investigators need to look deeper and harder into this has got to be more than a group of young kids heading a orchestrated chop shop or shipping gig!

I hate thieves. It seems like everybody has cameras now days so catching them comes easier. I’ll have a 12 gauge with lights in my hands. :)

Too bad they didn’t end up 6 feet under.

Cutting one arm off each thug would teach them a lesson and be the kind of deterrent young criminals need since parents no longer discipline children.
