Driver Charged With DUI After Striking FHP Trooper’s Vehicle
November 17, 2019
A Gulf Breeze man was charged with driving under the influence Saturday after crashing into a Florida Highway Patrol trooper in Escambia County.
The FHP said Trooper Chad Lynch was attempting a traffic stop with his emergency lights activated on Beverly Parkway when a Ford Explorer driven by 18-year old John McCleod III struck the left side of the patrol car.
McLeod was subsequently charged with DUI, possession of narcotics and failure to maintain a single lane.
There were no injuries in the crash.

Thanks for trying LOL
Nod, I can explain it to you but I can’t understand it for you.
So James you’re saying it’s better to be trained and die than to get a DUI
Nod, 18 year olds fighting in wars are sent to bootcamp to be trained to fight. They have chain of commands at all time who plan their mission and give them orders. They are surrounded by fellow soldiers who help carry out the mission. They are not allowed to be intoxicated in battle.
There are no Bootcamps for drinking. A 18 year old consuming alcohol apparently doesn’t have any responsible person around or that person would not permit them to drink or worse yet get behind the wheel of an vehicle. Dido for not having friends around because friends don’t let friends drive drunk.
Always find it amazing that an 18 year old can’t drink but they can go off to war and die .
No excuses for it at all or a crutch to use…suck it up take responsibility move forward..learn from this if you drink don’t drive…
Im sorry , but John John is only 18 according to the article. That is far from an ADULT..He is not even legal to drink. Let alone be driving drunk enough to side swipe a cop car…WITH LIGHTS FLASHING..!! I just hope he learns a lesson from this b4 he Really hurts someone from driving drunk..
Smile now..Cry later.
Every story has multiple sides, and everyone deserves forgiveness.
Praises that no injuries occurred! Praying this young man gets the support and services he needs, that any old wounds are healed, and that his unfortunate battle with substances is nipped in the bud. Second chances are for everybody.
Hey Wendy….. John John is an adult. Save the self righteous babble for the judge. Unless he’s mental, then judge him according to his actions in COURT!! 1st Amendment applies to every citizen. We don’t need to “know what this kid is going through”
I hope you get the help you need Baby John. You know your mom and dad is looking down on youAnd your mom would be disappointed. And want you to do better. .and for everyone saying something bout how proud his parents would be listen to me.His parents are dead. So till y’all know what this kid has been going through or what he was born into please don’t comment negative statements
When the drunken stupidity wears off, regret walks through the door…maybe. You just bought you and your parents a lot of expense…
18 yo, drunk, crashes into trooper. I know his parents are proud
Save that Smirk for the Judge.
I sure hope you are happy with that big grin because you are truly gonna Need it when you go to jail for a long time. I would be willing to bet when you get out you won’t be grinning no more it will be called a frown !!!!!!
That boy ain’t gonna be smiling’ long. You 18 now, no more juvenile court for you.
As crazy as this sounds the accident may have saved this young and irresponsible man’s life and those of others if he’d not been stopped.
Hopefully, he can get some help to change this downward slope to his life.
Thankfully, the Trooper nor anyone else was injured.
