November 14, 2019

A 20-year old high school student has been charged with a committing a sexual act with 14-year old girl in a school lunchroom.

Kenneth Tyrese Lowery of Century was charged with second degree felony lewd or lascivious molestation on a person under 16 years of age.

The report does not specify the school in Escambia County where the incident took place, but it does list Lowery as a student at Northview High School.

Multiple students witnessed the incident between Lowery, who is also known as “Ty” and the 14-year old girl, according to an arrest report. The victim told a deputy that Lowery covered his lap with a green jacket before she performed the sexual act on him, but she stopped after about five minutes when she realized other students were watching.

During the investigation, Lowery went to the school resource officer and asked to discuss a rumor that circulating around the school. The deputy informed Lowery that he was already aware of the incident. The deputy had reviewed surveillance video which showed Lowery and the victim sitting together during third lunch period, the report states.  Lowery covered his lap with a green jacket before someone approached the table and Lowery uncovered his lap area. The quality of the video did not provide further details.

Lowery was held without bond in the Escambia County Jail.

That is very wrong they should have told the parents of both of them and at first they were not allowed to have lunch together and then they got lunch together and did this act and so they knew that is why they didn’t get lunch together at first and but they still did it

No high school should have a 20 year old. Should be in adult education. Every state has a law against this kind of behavior. A minor is a minor no matter what anyone thinks. That is why they are still parented.

This MAN in with the kids has ONLY been charged as a 2nd degree felony….a quick plea bargain and charged will be pended for 9 months and then dropped if he stays out of trouble…THEN YOU WILL BE SHAMED for being so mean! You watch carefully because you can bet you won’t hear any more on this case

Let him be promoted; and removed.

I doubt the promotion, but have no doubt that he will be removed.

And now for those of you who questioned the wisdom behind social promotion.

Just a thought….when I was in the 9th grade, “junior high school” , as it was called back then, I had a classmate who had a drivers license. He drove to school in a 1939 Chevrolet. We thought it was neat. He probably failed some classes. When I was 20, I was in the military, I had friends being killed in Vietnam. Just a comparison.

My kids tell me about these sort of things happening in the MIDDLE schools, not just in high schools.

This is going to be the norm if Democrats get in office cause they actually stand for crap like this cause I am sure they believe a sexual predator has there rights too

  12. Tee bug on November 15th, 2019 2:12 pm

Every one can share blame on this one from all faculty to Tallahassee and perhaps up to Washington

“Just saying” has it down packed. I am willing to bet the IQ of the 14 year old girl is higher or at least matches that of the 20 year old high school student. Under the circumstances no force or threat was used – both are equally at fault!

@sherry ewy. Yes she is to blame also. She knew EXACTLY what she was doing. JUST SAYING.

  17. Sherry Ewy on November 15th, 2019 10:51 am

@anthony. No, the girl is not to blame, regardless of the “she musta really wanted it” attitude. she is under the age of consent. She wasn’t a college girl out for kicks. The adult male let a child perform sex acts on him. The age difference makes him a predator.

Look that boy is 20 but he is a good boy just like every other person that went to jail had a reason but the judge did not want to listen LEAVE THEM ALONE!!!!!!

After18 years old a student needs to be shuffled over to the GED program to get the paper diploma if they can’t qualify for a regular diploma and don’t want the completion certificate. 20 year old men do not belong in school with 14 year olds.

  21. Just sayin’ on November 15th, 2019 6:25 am

I don’t know the individuals or the situation but my observation is: the gentleman is 20 yrs old and still in high school?! Something is not firing on all cylinders so let’s slow down.. the young lady, albeit only 14 yrs old, demonstrated she knew what she was doing was wrong but still continued to it (by stopping when others were looking). Now I’m not saying a 20 & 14 yrs old should be together and definitely not excusing the behavior, but please consider all the info before you jump with both feet.

P.s. those who live in glass houses should not throw stones

  22. WORRIED RESIDENT on November 15th, 2019 6:00 am

I understand that he is 20 yrs old, and considered an adult. If he is still in high school at this age, there must be a problem. Which means he has to have a legal guardian.

@ Angry, did anyone speak to his guardian? Or the 14 year old’s guardian? To make them aware or the potential issues related to a 20 yr old “dating” a 14 yr old. Is this a situation where the guardians were aware, and allowed it?

  23. Angry on November 15th, 2019 1:43 am

@Anthony We understand that she was the one who preformed the act. I think you don’t understand that this is a MAN who is LETTING a FOURTEEN YEAR OLD CHILD touch him. I am not saying she did not know better, but I am saying that she probably was not thinking of the consequences of her actions. Ty is definitely old enough to understand what happens when something like this happens. He was warned several times about dating a 14 year old child. I am also in disbelief by the comments made about the employees. If you have ever been in a lunch at northview then you would know that the employees are walking around talking to students and making sure that things about going well. This incident that happened just was bad timing. The lunch room has a lot of tables and there is not a way that the Dean, Principle, assistant Principal, and the campus deputy can be at every table. Most people don’t think about how there are more than one lunch at Northview, therefore not every employee can be in hr lunchroom investigating every square inch. The few teachers that are on lunch duty still need a lunch break and watch from their seats, but if they are needed somewhere then they will go take care of a situation.

  24. Anthony on November 15th, 2019 12:36 am

Why is everyone focusing on the guys age. He’s 20 years old In highschool, so what at least he tried. Most of the adults on this comment section has kids that would have dropped out if they had the chance. At least he tried. And why is all of the heat on him? The GIRL performed the act on him! If anything she’s more guilty than him but as always the women becomes the victim and as a northview graduate I expect nothing less

  25. Matchbox on November 15th, 2019 12:17 am

@northview student. Please for your own education stay in school. Read a book and study English.

  26. Northview student on November 14th, 2019 10:27 pm

Omg calm down hes in jail all this bs like how hes 20 in high school not northviews problem they get paid to educate the youth not to mange everyoned life so leavr it alone

  27. Mike on November 14th, 2019 9:09 pm

To those of you who point at his age. I don’t see where it makes any difference, they mate with whatever they see and make sex in front of the others no matter what their age is. Their counterparts are no better, they do this on their own accord.
Let’s face the truth. Put him to jail, what problem is it going to solve? You will still have hundreds of females in heat of below the legal age, and more then enough of males in heat.
They will keep doing it, just make sure your offspring don’t mix with these crowds.

The young man was wrong for what he did, AND so was the girl. She needs to be arrested also! She knowingly and willingly performed an indecent act in front of other CHILDREN! Why is she not being held accountable also????

I think that diploma is gonna take a few more years, Mr. Lowery. :)

  32. Look into it on November 14th, 2019 5:51 pm

Why is a 20 year old in a high school? Here would be a possible reason from the Florida Department of Education’s own website:

“The Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services supports school districts and others in their efforts to provide exceptional student education programs for students ages 3 – 21 who have disabilities and students who are gifted.”

The website also states it’s up to local school districts to set policies. One would think that if putting 19-21 year olds with minors was a problem, a special school would be dedicated to that age group to separate adult-aged students from minors.

Before “employees” of a school are accused, one might ask the Escambia School District as to the appropriateness of having 19-21 year olds embedded with minors in a high school setting. It is doubtful that a small rural high school is able to handle adult-aged students. This is a district policy and resource problem, not an employee and local school problem.

  33. Embarrassment on November 14th, 2019 5:17 pm

Here’s a classic example of what wrong with the “no child left behind” movement. 20 year-old in high school with “normal aged high school kids. Anybody else see this as a possible problem?

  34. MisEducated on November 14th, 2019 4:31 pm

He has NO business in high school with minors.
He should be in adult high. If he is no qualified to graduate at the recommend time 13-atleast 18. North view should consist a area away from minor and a different lunch period since that is a route /distance area.

Now, I’m almost she he didn’t force her because she stopped when she realized she had viewers, however she is under the age for consent. She by no means is innocent of wrong doing. She knew better as well.

  35. M in Bratt on November 14th, 2019 4:09 pm

What in the hell is a 20 year old doing in the same school as 14 yo’s? The school system should have sent him off to one of their special programs long ago

  36. what are they thinking on November 14th, 2019 3:55 pm

” The victim told a deputy that Lowery covered his lap with a green jacket before she performed the sexual act on him, but she stopped after about five minutes when she realized other students were watching” -Victim? more like co-conspirator!

“Omg!!!! How in Gods name did that school let this happen!!!!!!!! WOW someone “employees” shouldn’t have let that happen………… That’s right it’s your job to know where thes kids are when they are there”

How the hell is it the school’s fault for this deviant? Read the story! It was in the middle of lunch period in a lunch room full of kids! The school knew exactly where they were. They didn’t sneak off under the bleachers or something.
