William Eugene Phillips

William Eugene Phillips, age 86, of Berrydale, Florida, passed away October 12, 2019, in Pensacola, Florida. Mr. Phillips was born October 3, 1933, in Jay, Florida to Thomas Alva and Bertie Phillips.

He was a lifelong resident of Berrydale and member of Berrydale Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as an army ranger and retired from the United States Civil Service at Whiting Field. He was a member of the Century Masonic Lodge number 213 and held positions of Deputy and Grand Master and was a member of the Hadji Shriners Pensacola, FL. He was an avid outdoorsman and truly enjoyed working outside and keeping his property immaculate.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn Joyce Phillips; sisters, Kathryn Davis, Thelma Phillips and Louise Freels; brothers, Cecil Phillips, Lloyd Phillips and Neil Phillips.

He is survived by son, Rocky (Mary) Phillips; sisters, Rochelle (Wayne) Brown; brother, Joe Phillips; sister-in-law, Thelma Phillips. He is also survived by grandson, Ben (Katelyn) Phillips; granddaughter, Celeste Phillips; and grandson, Brian (Melissa) Sams; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at Jay Funeral Chapel with brother Bobby Carnley officiating.

Burial was at Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Jay Funeral Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements.
