Semi Bottoms Out, Blocks Jacks Branch Road For Hours

October 17, 2019

A bottomed out semi blocked Jacks Branch Road in Cantonment for about four hours Wednesday afternoon.

The driver of the truck became stuck pulling from River Annex Road into Jacks Branch Road. Traffic was diverted around the truck through a muddy ditch.

Haven’t seen a truck stuck there in a long time. There should be signs on either end of River Annex Rd.

Why do semi’s travel these small back roads instead of main larger roads?

That has always been an interesting road to come up off of.

    David for interesting times

I use to work for Werner,I know this looks bad but you have to start somewhere. You don’t see experienced drivers going to work there. They rely on fresh out of truck driving school drivers. This is the unfortunate part of this industry.Yes their training could be a lot better but there is no substitute for experience.

Years ago on my way home from work, a mobile home was in same predicament only going into driveway on other side of the road and there was no going around it. Had to backtrack to Muscogee, then to River Annex, and finally came out on Jacks Branch about 10 feet from where the mobile home was still stuck!

No harm no foul…..be nice to have a sign there for large loads concerning low…landing gear
What some dont know, some RR tracks are to high on a hump for landing gear. Just have to live and learn

something similar happened to me leaving a Denver truckstop, the drive wheels starting wanting to lose traction bcuz the exit was at so much of an angled slope to the street, was glad i was able to power thru that. 18 wheelers are NOT atvs. :)

I came up on this about 12:15 and just shook my head. This happens about 2 times a year and peoples GPS keeps sending them there. Police were there , but the best thing I saw was the driver was helping direct traffic, I usually see driver standing on side of road just shaking their head!!!

The company is likely looking for a new hire about now.
