Century Charter Review Committee To Hold First Meeting Thursday
October 1, 2019
The Town of Century Charter Review Committee will holds its first meeting on Thursday, but only general housekeeping topics are scheduled to be discussed.
The 11-member committee will learn about the Sunshine Law and public records requirements in advance of future meetings.
The committee is tasked with exploring the town charter – the document that establishes the town, outlines its powers and spells out how it should operate. The current Century charter has not been updated in almost 40 years.

Thiis committee is REVIEWING, not changing, the charter, Well maybe the committee can then explain it to the Council. With pictures. toolittletoolate
” The current Century charter has not been updated in almost 40 years.” – caught somewhere in time, much like the rest of Century. Perhaps if the Century administration kept up with current affairs, the town would not be in the shape it’s in.
The council should definitely not be doing this!!! If the council and the mayor were to revise the charter don’t you think each person would be working toward their own benefit? Of course they would!! And as far as the dissolution goes that has nothing to do with what the committee will be doing. If its decided that the town government needs to be dissolved then there will be no need for a new Charter. But the review committee will not be the ones to make those types of decisions…
I think the Council should be doing this themselves
Make it a dis incorporation committee. We can’t afford EPA fines and millions for a waste treatment plant.
This seems out of place after the revelation about the waste treatment plant. Seems they should discuss dissolution.
