$4.6 Million Highway 4 Resurfacing Begins Next Week In Santa Rosa County

October 3, 2019

Work begins next week on $4.3 million project to resurface and make other improvements on Highway 4 in Santa Rosa County.

The project will span from the Escambia River Bridge to Market Road (Highway 87A) about 3.5 miles east of Jay. The project will include milling and resurfacing the roadway, pedestrian safety improvements along sidewalk facilities, guardrail upgrades at the Escambia River bridge, expansion joint replacement on the West Coldwater Creek bridge, and the replacement of the waterline from east of State Street to Magnolia Street in Jay.

Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures and traffic shifts during construction. The project is anticipated to be complete summer 2020.

I was momentarily excited when I read the headline, thinking it was Escambia County Hwy 4 about to be paved! But alas, all we get is re-striping this torn up road that turns into the great lakes when it rains. Not to mention the numerous severe potholes!!
