September 23, 2019

Escambia County has selected the winner of their online contest to flip on the lights at the new Pensacola Beach sailfish sign during a ceremony Tuesday.

The winner, randomly selected from 1,548 contest entries, is Robin Bjorklund.

The new sign was designed to look exactly like the old sign, and it features energy efficient LED lights. While in Santa Rosa County, the sign is owned by Escambia County.

This sign is not vivid in color as the original one of the 70’s. The one of the 70’s was so much nicer. This is the second time the sign has been re-done to my knowledge and neither one is as good as the original. The color needs to be deeper and darker like the original.

@obvious—That was the obvious plan! They did it on purpose.
