Former Alabama Middle School Assistant Principal Charged With Torture, Willful Child Abuse
September 5, 2019
The former assistant principal at W.S. Neal Middle School in East Brewton has been charged with torture and willful abuse of a child.
Donald Eugene Hardyman Jr., age 56, was indicted by an Escambia County grand jury and booked into the Escambia County (AL) Detention Center in Brewton. He was released on a $25,000 bond.
The indicted followed an investigation by the Escambia County (AL) Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Heath Jackson said his agency was called to the Escambia County (AL) Board of Education to investigate an altercation involving Hardyman and a student. The results of that investigation were then turned over to a grand jury for indictment.
Jackson said the investigation is ongoing.
Hardyman has resigned from W.S. Neal Middle School.

it was a different time – teachers demanded order and respect. Parents as a rule backed up the teacher if punishment was handed out. Today’s lenient society hides in safe spaces and seeks psychiatric counseling if they feel disrespected.
I was abused by principals and teachers the whole time I went through elementary school and middle school I admit I was probably into a bunch of mischief but nothing that bad but I’ve been slapped in the face and even burned by a coach by a cigarette and at one time I had a teacher sit on me in 2nd grade
Back in the early 70’s I was also abused at Ferry Pass Middle. Three times I was given “Licks” for somethings I didn’t do. Just by the words of little punks who were lying. No proof at all because I was innocent.
