Molino Man Captured After Alabama High Speed Chase, Facing Charges In Two States

August 30, 2019

A Molino man is facing multiple drug and other charges after a high speed chase through South Alabama, and he’s also wanted in Escambia County for vehicle theft and in connection with the theft of over 100 guns and knives in Cantonment.

Bay Minette Police said 29-year old Hunter Grant Myrick fled from a traffic safety checkpoint and led officers on a high speed pursuit at speeds reaching near 100 mph through northern Baldwin County, Mobile County and into Washington County.

Mt. Vernon (AL) Police and the Washington County (AL) Sheriff’s Office used spike strips in an attempt to end the pursuit. Three of Myrick’s tires were flattened, but he continued for another five miles before driving off the shoulder of Highway 43 and fleeing into a wooded area. He was captured in the woods after a lengthy search by an Alabama Department of Corrections K-9 team.

The vehicle was reported stolen from Escambia County, FL, and it contained methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, according to Bay Minette Police.

Myrick was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, attempting to elude and multiple traffic offenses.  He was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Center without bond, and Bay Minette Police said more charges are pending as their investigation continues.

Myrick is also wanted on numerous felony warrants in Escambia County, FL, including warrants in connection with the vehicle and theft of 31 guns, 100 knives, two chainsaws and other items valued at $20,000 from Pinoak Lane in Cantonment.

On Thursday, NorthEscambia.com reported on three other arrests in the Cantonment burglary. Martin Joseph Shaughnessy, 35; Dawn Cheree Brooks, 39; and Charles Kettering, 42, were each charged with 15 counts of felony grand theft of a firearm and one count of burglary. In addition, Shaughnessy was charged with felony resisting an officer with violence, misdemeanor resisting an officer without violence and violation of probation, and Brooks was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle.

To everyone voicing their opinions. You like everyone else has a right. But honestly I don’t think there is anyone making the comments haven’t been where is mans family friends or the victims family and friends haven’t been. Put yourself in this mans families shoes. Would you pay for something your son, daughter or family member damaged. NO you would not. That is considered small claims court in Florida. He may not ever pay but I don’t think he family should pay. They are paying more then the victim of the car will ever.

Remember: September 04, 2013, Additional Defendant Sentenced On Federal Meth Related Charges! Hunter Grant Myrick, 23, Cantonment – Federal prison for 20 months, three years supervised released. Nothing learned from that lesson!

    @Concerned:

One wonders at which point a person can earn condemnation and disrespect.

Sure the man has a family. But all that concern disappeared the instant he stepped into someone else’s home and destroyed its sanctity.

    What about the *innocent* family?
What about the *innocent* people put in danger by his high-speed chase?

He earned the condemnation he is receiving. Get out of the way and let him take the full force of it – unless you want us to think you’re just like him by defending him.

Concerned. Maybe you should consider the victim of this man’s crimes. He didn’t care about his family or the victims he hurt. Maybe you and this man’s family can pay for Sandy Brannon’s daughter’s car since you are so concerned. Victim’s very rarely get full compensation for criminals actions.

So much for blood being thicker than water – his actions show he cares nothing for family or anyone else. It is the good people that cared for and pray for him – it is the good people that have to live with the aftermath of his actions.

    @ Sandy Brannon

IF HE HAD ANY MONEY DO THINK HE WOULD STEAL A CAR?

ALL CRIMINALS SHOULD HAVE TO PAY (MONEY) FOR REIMBURSEMENT TO THE VICTIMS OF THEIR CRIMES

To Concerned. Victim’s are the ones who suffer the most when criminals make their stupid decisions. Maybe his family can help the Sandy Brannon’s daughter with the expenses she incurred and the other victims he hurt.

I hope you rot in prison for the next 50 years. You stole from people, disrupted their lives and cost them some serious money. Instead of facing your crimes like a man, you chose to endanger the lives of innocent citizens and law enforcement officers by leading them on a high speed chase traveling over 100 mph. The next biggest concern is where are all of those guns? If any one of those stolen guns are used to shoot anyone, I hope you face additional charges for that also!

It was my daughter’s car that was stolen so the cops used spike strips blew out three tires and she is the one that has to pay to get her car from impound that is not right the thief should have to pay it

You have so much to live for! Please stop all of this. So many people love you!! I’ll never stop caring and I’ll never stop praying for you!

Before anybody starts making nasty comments here…know that he has a family that loves him and has tried to help him, please have respect for them. Yes he done wrong and yes he will pay for his crimes. Just remember this could be your son, brother, or best friend. Just pray for all involved and don’t post comments to hurt his family any more than what they are hurting now. Thank you.
