Miracle League In Desperate Need Of Volunteers To Help Repair Field For Fall Season

August 19, 2019

The Miracle League of Pensacola is in need of numerous volunteers to help them prepare a damaged field in time for their fall season.

The field is covered with hundreds of tiles to create a safe playing surface. All of the tiles must be removed, pressure washed and replace. This will require a “massive” number of volunteers and hours of service, according to league officials.

They will be working each evening this week, weather permitting at 5:30 p.m. Volunteers may need gloves, but no other tools are required.

The park is located at 555 East Nine Mile Road, at the corner of Nine Mile and Airway Drive.

You can also contact the probation offices. Your going to have hundreds of people on probation both county and federal that need community service hours. And you can choose non violent offenders or whatever you don’t want.

This may be an opportunity to utilize some convict labor from Camp 5 or the county jail. Just a reasonable suggestion to implement the program offered by Miracle League.

Several rows of tiles popped up and the others shifted a few inches. Probably due to some heavy rain and high temperatures. We tried for several nights to get them back in place, but we are bot having any success. We have come to the conclusion that the only way is to pull all of them up and start over.

Our many thanks to the members of our community who have helped thus far and for those who will assist with this project in the coming weeks. Fall Season will begin on Friday, September 13th & Saturday, September 14th so preparing this field for play is imperative in keeping our game schedule. Board Members, Coaches, Volunteers, local military, sponsors, donors, churches, high school students, college students and those who love the MLP community are welcome. THANK YOU NORTHESCAMBIA for reaching out to those in our area.
