ECSO Seizes $2.2 Million Of Powdered Cocaine, Largest Seizure In Agency History

August 30, 2019

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office has made what is believed to be the largest powdered cocaine seizure in the agency’s history.

The 22 kilos of powder cocaine has a street value estimated at $2.2 million.

“This seizure was unique in many ways,” Sheriff David Morgan said during a Thursday afternoon press conference, “but unfortunately there’s not going to be a tremendous amount of information that can be released.”

“It was destined for a warehouse that did not exist,” Chief Deputy Chip Simmons said. The ECSO has not said where they drugs were found in Escambia County.

Simmons said an attempt was made to conceal the cocaine from detection in spray foam insulation, but it was discovered by an ECSO K-9 during an interdiction effort.

“Drugs like this are coming through Escambia County,: Simmons said. “We are going to keep finding the drugs. You have a dedicated group of nactorics officers and K-9s.”

Oops, bad math. My bad math.

    $2,200,000 / (22kilos x 2.205 pounds/kilo) = $45,351/pound

    Hardly worth bothering with.

    David for admission of error

Good job Sheriff Morgan and Chief Simmons, now only if our legislators would get behind you guys and take the handcuffs off. A whole lot more could get accomplished, but unfortunately I don’t see that happening anytime soon! We have the best department we have had in awhile, minus a few bad apples.

This just shows that when the S.O. has a proactive leader with law enforcement experience like Chip Simmons, the job gets done properly by his men and women. Great job Deputies and hats off to Chip for coming in to a bad situation and making a positive change. Now when we can get Sheriff in front of his name and get the Bumbling Idiot ( Morgan )out of the directors chair, maybe we can get the department back on track!

A hundred thousand dollars per pound.

One can see why many might be tempted.

    ……………………………………….

Many years ago, I read in Scientific American about some synthetic drug with exactly the same effect on the brain as cocaine. Interesting that criminals are still sticking to the imported, natural stuff. Old fogies, I guess.

    David for real progress
    (not that deadly drugs are)

“It was destined for a warehouse, that didn’t exist”,Maybe Sheriff Morgan needed something to get the attention off him and his current situation. Im not the sharpest knife in the drawer but I can guarantee that these drugs belongs to ESCO
