Deputies Go From Funeral Escort To Drug Arrest In Century
August 22, 2019
Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputies waiting to conduct a funeral escort in Century ended up arresting a local man on drug charges.
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputies were on Highway 4 near Industrial Boulevard in Century waiting for the funeral escort to begin.
They observed 48-year old Christopher Angelo Phifer drive down Highway 4. Knowing he had an outstanding warrant for trespassing at Century Woods Apartment, deputies followed. They caught up with him as he drove down Ramar Street, driving in a “reckless and careless manner….while passing several children at close range,” according to arrest report.
Phifer traveled to a house in the 100 block of Pond Street and went inside, the report states. He was ordered outside by deputies and placed under arrest. In his vehicle, deputies reported finding crack cocaine and methamphetamine.
Phifer was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, driving with a suspended license and reckless driving, in addition to the outstanding trespassing warrant.

EMD, I’ve lived in this end the county long enough to say…..the ones that want to work are working. It’s not a question of no advantages! There is always the military that will train for free and pay a decent salary at the same time. What the problem is……is it way too easy to get a government handout. Despair is NOT the problem……laziness and self-centeredness! If I can get it given to me or I can steal in is the way of thinking for those who aren’t trying to better themselves.
FYI the Dept. of Corrections is now hiring 18 year olds and they will pay you and train you at the same time! (oh but you have to have a clean record.)
Despair is probably what is wrong up there. Maybe someone should start a trade school up there with help finding work or starting a business upon graduation. Funding this long ago may have made a difference today.
Perhaps this kind of thing is what is wrong with Century.
being under the influence of narcotics makes you do things that make no rational sense at all.
woooow smart guy
