California Doctor No Longer Wants Medical Examiner Job; He Was The Only Applicant

August 24, 2019

A California doctor says he no longer wants the chief medical examiner job. He was the only applicant.

Dr. Scott Luzi has withdrawn his name for consideration as chief medical examiner for the First District of Florida, according to State Attorney Bill Eddins.

Luzi is the medical director and manager of Anatomic, Clinical, and Forensic Pathology Services in Escondido, California.

The Medical Examiner’s Search Committee will meet September 18 to discuss their next step. Current Medical Examiner Dr. Andrea Minyard’s resignation is effective September 30

Who would come here and work in this county government the way it is currently. Drain the swamp and get some respectable new blood in here…… top down. I currently work in a “hostile” (drama and good ol’ boy system) work environment ( not the county); even after formal complaints it’s not gotten better. So….. . I’m leaving as soon as I can and leave the ignorance behind to the ignorant.

Did you happen to read the investigation summary that is available for public viewing? She was double dipping and charging different counties for the same job and not telling the other county that the charge had already been paid. She refused to provide documents when requested. But she was a good dr and all.

Why is the search committee waiting so long to meet? (Do they think they can fill the job in two weeks?!!) Will anyone perform the duties after she leaves and before another one takes the job?

Maybe they should meet with the Town of Century and get some advice from them.

Try all of those recruiters on the radio. There has to be someone out there wanting to live on the beach and eat seafood.

When you make stupid decisions like messing with the good Dr. You screw many other things. She was excellent and a few big men stop and say she’s a woman and we don’t make that much money so she shouldn’t either. JUST STUPIDITY. She runs all four counties and worked her butt off for the people. Maybe politicians should try that.

It appears that the people who work with and oversee the 1st District ME’s office have created a toxic atmosphere for a chief medical examiner and have been interfering in the ME’s duties and responsibilities. Who would want to work for the four county region? Obviously nobody. Maybe change in the approach in how the medical examiner and the office is treated is in order. Good luck with trying to fill the position.

No one will take this offer once they realize 1. How hassled Dr. Minyard was by two counties and 2. The caseload for the amount of pay.

Any person with a brain would not want to come work in a hostile environment created by Escambia County. This is down right laughable that Escambia believes someone will come work here for that low pay. It’s funny how this comes full circle for Escambia County Commissioners. I bet Minyard is laughing it up at every twist and turn and rightfully so!
