NWS: A Rare July Cold Front Is On The Way

A rare July cold front is on the way to the Gulf Coast, according to the National Weather Service. The front is forecast to become stationary at or near the coast by Wednesday,.

Rain chances begin to decrease as the front passes, moreso to the northern part of of our coverage area. Lows will flirt with the upper 60s and highs will be in the uppers 80s.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 10pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Monday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Monday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Tuesday: Showers and thunderstorms. High near 86. West wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Tuesday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. North wind around 5 mph.

Wednesday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. North wind 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 67. North wind around 5 mph.

Thursday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. Northeast wind around 5 mph.

    We are getting the relief way up here in Chicago. The high yesterday was 97. Today it was 75. What a difference 22 degrees makes!
