Father Dead After Shooting His 3-Year Old In Escambia County

July 20, 2019

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office says a man shot his own 3-year old child before turning the gun on himself Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened on Wyoming Drive near the Fairfield Drive and New Warrington Road spur just before 2:30 p.m.

The father picked up his toddler from the mother’s home, walked about about 100 yards away and then shot the child twice before shooting himself, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The man was pronounced deceased at the scene. At last report, the child was in critical condition at a local hospital.

    CONSIDERING:
“I’m thinking that the whole “more guns=safer society” thing is not a good idea.”

Not more, but when you consider the dangerous crazies all around us, it might be unwise to only allow them to be armed. For example, this one could have done the same evil thing with a kitchen utensil. Don’t blame the tool…or do, up to you

This horrible incident, the shoot-em-ups along Muscogee Road, & Hanley Downs.

Across the socio-economic demographic, people keep shooting each other dead not for self-defense, but for murder.

I’m thinking that the whole “more guns=safer society” thing is not a good idea.

Praying for that precious child. This is beyond sad. I can’t imagine what this mother is feeling right now and that poor baby couldn’t even trust his/her own father. Will have trust issues their whole life. Why didn’t he just shoot himself and leave the poor child alone?!?!?!

To read an article like this overwhelms my heart. But folks, keep in mind that one reason we read stories like this too often is so many in our society are on drugs that alter the mind. Doctors tend to dispense them like candy from a Christmas parade float. Not to mention what’s available on the street.

So very Sorry for the child. Anyone making remarks about the parent right now is so very wrong. Just think of kid and mom if she saw this. I know everyone has an the right to voice what they want but think of kid in 20 yrs if they look up this story.

Poor kid. Very sad thing to have done.

    Request:

If you are considering killing others and then yourself, please don’t.
If you still insist, wait a week or two.
If you still insist, wait another week or two.
If you just insist, please start with yourself.

To Sage2: I think our society, through social media increasingly more available to others, we are actually seeing the world around us more clear. This is horrible. I think regardless of what truly happened in this instance, we need to recognize that mental illness runs rampant in our society, and we need to make it easier for people to have access to treatment. In Pensacola, it’s near impossible already to find good treatment with insurance. Without it, you’re basically up the Creek without a paddle. We got to destigmatize mental illness and make help treating it easier for everyone to seek.

Angry, hating, controlling parents (usually from divorce) are allowed to cut 1 set of grandparents and friends, neighborhoods and pets, and come to FL to isolate these already traumatized children. FL’s One Dead and the other a Violent Felon law encourages this behavior; usually the alieniating one is hiding angry parenting.

Some children I know were beaten sometimes every day with a wooden paddle from toddler to when they were taken to Pensacola at 8 and 9. Taught to lie to social workers. Often the new step-parent is jealous and resentful.

My g-children live there; were beaten with a wooden paddle from toddlers to when they moved to Pensacola 3 years ago.
Please God, heal the children – amen

See Alienated Grandparents Anonymous – in all states, hdqs Naples. A societal shift is separating children from their bonded, loving grandparents by the thousands. In FL these isolating ‘parents’ are hiding behind the Dead or Felon Law.
