New Details Released In Cantonment Stabbing

July 8, 2019

A man was found stabbed late Saturday night in Cantonment, and his girlfriend has been charged with his death.

Ja’Quoia XiaXiana Collins, 24, stabbed her boyfriend in the chest outside the Wild Oak Farms Apartments in the 800 block of North Highway 29 shortly before midnight, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. She is charged with first degree homicide.

Deputies responded to apartments at 11:39 p.m. where her found victim Quartez McShane unresponsive in the roadway near the driver’s side door of a blue Mitsubishi Gallant. He had been stabbed in the chest. McShane was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 12:22 a.m.

Investigators found Collins had made a post to her Facebook account at 11:19 p.m. that stated, “Ladies, NEVERRRR let a Boy put his hands on You cs a Real MAN ain’t Going for it.” That post was later deleted.

Four hours prior to that, she also made a post that stated, “(Vulgarity) Only think you Good for Sex, like (vulgarity) did you Know I knew how to Draw.”  And only July 3, she posted “That Would Be My First & LAST Time Entering Escambia County Jail Cs I’m Going DOWN w that fresh Murder charge” when reposting a friend’s comment about speaking bad about someone’s kids.

Deputies obtained video surveillance from the apartment complex that shows McShane’s vehicle arrive. After a period of time, Collins is seen running from McShane’s vehicle toward her residence. At no time does the video show Collins move from her residence to the vehicle, prompting investigators to conclude that she was at McShane’s vehicle at the time of the stabbing.

Collins is being held in the Escambia County Jail without bond.

I knew this female and this is by far mind blowing. We have to really be careful of our FB post and our words in general. There IS a such thing as speaking things into existence. I feel so bad for her children. I am praying for BOTH families period. Only God knows what really happened. Also if you look at her mug shot her eye looks bruised. Not making any judgements may Justice be served fair. God bless

If you listen to the news from what the neighbors say ion think he abused her I think she controlled him and he was scared of her she look crazy asf it’s stuff she posted on her Facebook page is the reason why they shared it on her and they have the surveillance video where she was at his car so that means he never was in her house when she stabbed him I don’t care how y’all try to defend her that man still lost his life and his kids are without a father .

Why yall got them 2 IRRELEVANT facebook posts in this article? Don’t got nothing to do with this. Idk them, but it sounds like he beats her. And for the mama to ask for a bond, she must know something about her son too. Come on now. I’m thinking self defense. They had to have been in a heated argument that night

She deserves to be locked up for good. Quazzy was a good friend of mine, we always cut up together in school. He was a hilarious and sweet person. My prayers go out to him and his family.

If the person you were in a relationship with was not only cheating on you but cheating with the same gender as they are putting you at risk for god knows what you cannot honestly say what you would do in that instance im sad for the loss of a mother to her kids and the loss of someone’s son and the babys father but you cannot play with people’s lives

Too much information on the social media sites. Do you think if I was going to shoot someone I would tell about it on Facebook? NOT !

I take it that Collins prepared herself for the worse outcome.

Now the family and friends of these two people suffer with broken hearts. Her children live without their mother.

People need to learn to walk away from situations and save lives. Lives matter !!

This is a very very sad situation. As well as a lesson learned. We are not the judge!!!! Love will make you do some crazy things. Prayers for those innocent kids who has to grow up without their mother and a daughter who has to grow up without both of her parents. May God bring the family peace.

We went to job corps in Albany together…she was always walking with her child laughing an smiling an playing…she was a very sweet girl something has to trigger her into doing this but he is no longer alive to say what happened so of course the police is going to base this off of what she put on Facebook when it has NOTHING to do with it

    She deserves what she gets.

I agree that the Facebook posts may not directly address this situation but from past educational classes at various law enforcement agencies, they said that social media is one of the places that they do look for information and usually make a lot of connections to a case, especially if it involves other persons. I’m just sorry that this happened as it will be a difficult road ahead for all of the families. Only she knows what was going on in her mind when this occurred.

The posts have nothing to do with the case some should read the first post that she replied about the jail time it has nothing to do with the case. Yes she did wrong but I feel this should be admissible in court because it has nothing to with what happened That night

Generally, if you say the words “i’m going to kill him/her” and then that person is found dead, it doesn’t look good.

  14. Suzie B on July 8th, 2019 6:22 pm

This is sad… Her Facebook page isn’t helping her case for sure. Although there may have been joking and other meaning(s) behind some of the posts, they will still look at all of the posts including one on May 26 that mentions killing him. It may have been just a phrasing that many use but for her, it will be taken differently now. Someone who may be friends with her pointed it out. Two young lives are over and the children will suffer the most along with family members of them all.

“stabbed her boyfriend in the chest” followed in comment s by “she didn’t meant to kill him.” Please if you will, explain this statement to me.

That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.
