Man Charged With Murdering His Grandfather
June 1, 2019
An Escambia County man has been arrested for murder.
Marcus Knight, 25, was arrested Friday for the murder of his grandfather, 66-year old James Howard Royster.
Royster found deceased in his his residence at 1035 East Lee Street in Pensacola on the morning of May 8. He was was beaten to death with an unknown object, according to Pensacola Police.
Knight had lived at the residence, but was being kicked out at the time of the incident.
Investigators said Knight was developed as a suspect in the murder early on in the investigation, but initially probable cause was insufficient. Knight was, however, arrested on a theft charge and has remained in jail on that charge since the murder.
Police said probable cause for the murder was established after three weeks of investigation.
Knight remains in the Escambia County Jail with no bond.

I knew the grandfather. He dearly loved this young man. As a child, James would speak of how he would encourage Marcus
to be a productive child making him want to be a person to achieve great things in his life. I can only imagine the hurt and pain he felt knowing his grandson was going to kill him and that would be the last thing he would have when crossing over. Can you imagine what was going through his mind as he was beat to death?
Every convicted murderer should be executed in a manner similar to how they killed their victims. But would an execution here involve also beating him to death? I don’t think so. At least the electric chair would do, not just a simple injection.
Rest in Peace, James.
The BIBLE teaches that there are signs of the LORD coming back and this is just one sign he speaks about at the end of the world as we all know it. It teaches that near the time of the end Man will be against Man, Son against Fathers, Sons against Mothers, Fathers against sons, Mothers against Sons, Daughters against Fathers, Daughters against Mothers, Fathers against Daughters, Mothers against Daughters, Brothers against Brothers, Brothers against Sisters, Sisters against Sisters, Sisters against Brothers, and so on. Get the picture ??? We are at the end of the time and people need to wake up and get ready. WE ALL need to start back going to Church, taking our children to church at young age and bring them up in Church to learn about GODS love for Man and the ways the LORD wants us all to live and treat one another. Don’t really care if people make fun of ME because in the end WE all who believe will be the real winners in the end, Trust Me !!
Ok Chris why come that life doesn’t matter would it matt if it was your grandfather if you’re not going to say something positive just don’t say anything somebody love that man
Guess that Life did not Matter!
This is so sad. Where are the parents? Why was he living off of his grandparents? Why did he not have his own place? Did he not have a job that he could support himself? Was he not taught love, honor, and respect, or even virtue? Did he not have a desire to better himself as a person and work to be a productive member of society? Was he not taught these things, or did he chose to turn his back on them? It is my belief he was never taught. Our society has removed words from our language that instill, and encourages us to become a better person. The problem we are seeing in our society is the failure to teach our children to be good people, to respect our elders, and those in places of authority. We are not taught the principles of Christianity. 1 Corinthians 13-13, And now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. But of course that might offend someone.
What lead you to murder your own flesh and blood ? Abuse? Theft of material things? So much anger and hate in this world…a person’s life means nothing anymore. So if found guilty society has to foot the bill for your punishment.
In reality it is society that is getting punished in that you and the multitudes like you get to go on living. Shortchanged on justice…
