Baptist Hospital To Construct Brand New $550 Million Facility

June 26, 2019

Baptist Hospital announced Wednesday morning that they will construct a brand new modern hospital campus at southwest corner of I-110 and Brent Lane. The main hospital will move from E Street to the new 650,000 square foot, $550 million facility. Administration, Lakeview and other services will remain at the current E Street campus.

The hospital said if this was an economic decision, the hospital would have been moved toward the Beulah Road area, but the decision was about staying near the current Baptist community.

“This was not an economic decision,” said Mark Faulkner, president and CEO of Baptist Health Care. “This was a community decision.”

So glad to see the best disputable in Pensacola FINALLY move to a more accessible location.

A new location for Baptist Health Care is so good for our community.
They do so much for the area that is good.

Those who want more things on the west side need to get with Underhill on that.

Wow i was born at Baptist July 31, 1957

Well we will never get the explanation as to exactly how this spot was chosen. This was geographically the worst place it could be built. Records indicate that expansion and growth are substantial to the west and north and they buy land 1 mile from an existing hospital. Unbelievable

To those who live on the west side, repost when you have a real beef. Try living in Brewton and have to drive to the towers

    To rh:
NP and PA’s complete YEARS of training to earn their credentials that you are saying you don’t want to take care of you.

Did you know that to earn a NP credential you must first complete 2 years of nursing school (ADN or BSN) then take the NCLEX exam to be a licensed RN?

To earn your NP credentials you go back for another 12-24 months of graduate schooling and clinical practice then taken another national board exam.

To hold the credentials of PA you must have a bachelors degree. Then you go back to school another 3 years of which you spend 12-18 months in theory classes and labs and 12 months of clinical rotations and than a national exam. Oh and they have to pass this exam every 10 years or so, just like a MD to keep your license.

I personally love the care that NP’’s and PA’s provide. Did you know that nurses are the most trusted profession in our country. Both PA and NP are valuable members of the health care team.

I am confident that Baptist made their decision after looking at all possible options before choosing this location to build Is it close to SHH? Yes. Is it next to I-110? Yes and it will certainly be faster and easier to get to then its current location.

In case you are wondering, no I am not an RN, NP, PA or MD, but I know many who are and I respect all that it takes to become one. I never under estimate their commitment, education, knowledge or their ability to care or me and all other patients.

Just further away for those of us who live on the Southside of Pensacola. Hopefully they will not move the towers. There are alot of older people who choose this as their hospital for the ease of access.

I see the parking lot is also larger. However, it doesnt look large enough to hold hospital staff and visitors. Might as well ad a a parking garage from the get go.

  8. MR REALITY on June 26th, 2019 9:00 pm

jeez you people are so dumb….Baptists is a COMMUNITY OWNED HOSPITAL. WE ALL OWN IT!!!!!!

  9. Samantha on June 26th, 2019 8:52 pm

I really think this is too close to Sacred Heart and the traffic will be a nightmare.

  10. Preston Hardy on June 26th, 2019 7:45 pm

Escambia County and the Panhandle are extremely fortunate to have three fine hospital systems–Baptist, Sacred Heart, and West Florida. This new construction/expansion will allow Baptist to offer even better services to its patients.

I certainly hope that DOT starts working now to alleviate future traffic problems associated with this project instead of waiting until it opens and then,,,OH NO, WE HAVE A TRAFFIC JAM. They did that with the Navy Federal project, and look at the mess we have now.

Well, Baptist quality of care has declined significantly recently and this is to ensure profit. No doubt this “profit” is graciously given to “administrators” We wonder where healthcare $$ goes let’s try these administrators who contribute nothing to our healthcare yet their numbers grow exponentially meanwhile physician numbers are stagnant. They hire NP who have so little education that it is laughable and attempt to insert them into positions where we need physicians. I refuse an appointment with NP unless it is a simple follow up and the physician is involved how dare these corporations sacrifice my health for profit and new buildings. Oddly administrators/senators and others that have choices NEVER choose the cheap NP/PA alternative why should we be forced to see them. Keep your new building and give us back quality care with physician led care.

To all complaining about the new hospital location it’s only a few miles from their current location and your trying to say that’s too far for you to drive from the west side. Wow!!!!

  14. Jb on June 26th, 2019 5:03 pm

Good, glad they’re moving out of the Ghetto

  15. Jackie MacFarland on June 26th, 2019 4:34 pm

I think this is a great idea. If Beulah residents take the interstate you will be there in 10 – 15 minutes. It drops you off literally at the front door. Will be further for the west side but not too much though. Baptist deserves a new building, it’s been a long time coming.

  16. PatD on June 26th, 2019 3:45 pm

    @Chris,

Yes, Good Times Tours is currently still in that location but has purchased land in Santa Rosa County to relocate due to this sale that has been in the making for way over a year.

  17. My2Cents on June 26th, 2019 3:23 pm

It would have been nice to have a real hospital near the Cantonment area. I hate they aren’t building in Beulah.

  18. Linda Walters on June 26th, 2019 2:45 pm

Beulah area would have been a much better choice. The traffic will be horrific! And like someone else said, Sacred Heart is about 1 mile down the street. If the powers that be were really thinking about its patients, then build in Beulah. Think about the Baptist patients that live on the West Side.

  19. Jauquita on June 26th, 2019 2:18 pm

Awesome, i am just REALLY happy. Its time to challenge the all mighty ACENSION (MAFIA HOSPITAL) they are all about the money not the patients. I put way too many hours off the clock and fixing results and puttimg patient info in that should of been in by the person whom did the test. ALL FOR INSPECTION. JACK OF ALL TRADES I AM, I Even had to leave work ro repair managements pool numerous times. So, Yes i want to see Baptist on top.

  20. bw..just wondering on June 26th, 2019 1:56 pm

isn’t that the area that was under six feet of water during the flood?

  21. Scott on June 26th, 2019 1:27 pm

So when does the Brent Lane widening project begin? Not poo-pooing this, but
Beverly Parkway, Brent Lane, and Bayou Blvd are already slammed as it is. Ambulances heading east on this road are often stopped due to the inability for cars to move out of the way. Just saying, are these things gs ever considered?

  22. gambello7 on June 26th, 2019 12:50 pm

So in other words, about a mile west of Sacred Heart Hospital. That sucks.

  23. Neal on June 26th, 2019 12:45 pm

If it were about getting more business, they’d build it closer to my house.

  24. Chris Beckman. on June 26th, 2019 12:26 pm

Is good times tours No longer in business they are in the same area

  25. Martha on June 26th, 2019 12:22 pm

I agree with Amy. This is not good for anyone who lives on the westside. Now we not only have further to go, but fighting the traffic on the east side.

  26. Mina on June 26th, 2019 11:53 am

I think it’s where Barnhill restaurant use to be

  27. Vanessa Sligar on June 26th, 2019 11:51 am

Congratulations. This is a long time coming. Very good location.

  28. Amy Harter on June 26th, 2019 11:50 am

While this is way overdue to build a new hospital, how will this be beneficial to anyone over on the westside/perdido key area? This new hospital is going to basically just be down the road from Sacred Heart…. that doesnt make any sense to me when then there wont be any hospital facility close to anyone further west.

  29. Robert webb on June 26th, 2019 11:50 am

@Heidi its the old ryans and the old gateway CoC on brent…..across the street from pca

  30. Jen on June 26th, 2019 11:42 am

Heidi- this is across from PCC and what used to be Ryans and other various failed “buffets”.

  31. Heidi on June 26th, 2019 11:34 am

I live off Davis highway, and I’m trying to figure out what property they’re going to build this at. Are they going to purchase the property where the old Food World was, thats now syzone?

  32. Lyn on June 26th, 2019 11:32 am

Nice… I like Baptist Hospital service and people; I just don’t care for the location — it is way out of the way for me. This move will make the hospital much more convenient.

  33. Chris Forbush on June 26th, 2019 11:21 am

Congratulations to The Baptist and Faulkner Family,Baptist is under tremendous Leadership, incredible announcement for our community!!
