None Of Rep. Mike Hill’s Bills Pass The Florida House

May 10, 2019

None of the bills sponsored by State Rep. Mike Hill passed the Florida House this session.

Hill, who represents North Escambia, sponsored nine bills.

A tobacco products bill would have prohibited the sale of flavored tobacco products, including products used in e-cigarettes, in retail location unless people under 18 where not allowed in the buildings. The bill was reported unfavorable by Government Operations & Technology Appropriations Subcommittee.

Hill’s firearms bill was withdrawn prior to introduction. It would have repealed all of the gun control measures that were passed after the Marjory Douglas Stoneman High School massacre.

Seven other bills by Hill were indefinitely postponed and withdrawn from consideration – including bills prohibiting abortions if a fetal heartbeat was detected, requiring the notification of parents in advance of classes that would include sex education, and protecting war memorials and monuments, including Civil War monuments.

A bill that would have provided $4.1 million to pave parking lots and roads at Pensacola State College also failed.

In fairness to Rep Hill, the article should at least reveal what bills he supported (and what passed and failed), even if they were not “his” bills.

On the other hand, with the exception of paving parking lots at PSC, all of the bills mentioned in the article are national social wars bills. It would seem Rep Hill could focus his efforts more specifically to House District 1 rather than piggybacking on national hot topics. For example, congested and deficient roadways might be a start.

Mike Hill is a sensationalist who would rather beat on a wall and rave about whatever the most controversial thing he can to get his name known. He’s not there to do anything but advance himself.

I agree with John on May 10th, 2019 1:23am. Same as saying that Florida can’t vote correctly from the 2000 election when it was only 4 counties out of 67 that had problems with their voting systems, but the whole state gets the brunt of the jokes at Florida.

The problem is that Florida is slowly becoming California.

“Pandering to his base”? For those of you who may not know, America is NOT a democracy. It is a representative republic. Those we elect represent us, call it pandering if you want. Thank you for your hard work Mike, keep it up

I’d rather be on the right side of loosing than the wrong side of winning.
I still got your back Mike.

“Mr. Hill does not fail to try. This means he is a success. He is not worrying about being liked. Thank You for trying Mr. Hill.“

None of his bills passed. None of them would have passed from the outset. If he’s “trying” to get his name in the headlines, he is succeeding. If he is “trying” to do his job in an effective manner, he is failing. This is just more pandering to his base that support the policy of the Middle Ages. Politicking.

There’s a lot of that going around these days.

The views of the panhandle aren’t shared by the rest of the state. And since the panhandle doesn’t have the population, it pretty much isn’t going to get represented in the legislature.

Great news for anyone living in the 21st Century.

I see there are people commenting that don’t have a clue how politics works. They just want to bang their shoe on the table and find fault when they don’t even know what’s going on. Hill is one heck of a rep and his failures say more about the apathetic uninformed voters than it does about his efforts.. How about NOT voting for the RINOS and Democrats who promise redistribution of wealth, and inform yourself in the details of the proposed bills. Who’s on the committee that shot them down? Anybody know? What reasons did they give?Do THEY need to be voted out? It’s easy to see how the media controls the narrative when weak minds are involved. Thanks to all those who defend Hill and who actually put some effort into keeping abreast of our leaders

Mike is one of the hardest working reps we have! This man keeps his word and actually fights for conservative views. The problem we have in Tally is that a lot of our so called “republicans” have become more and more liberal in their actions and have lost all backbone. Thank you Mike for keeping the fight regardless of what your peers are doing.

I happen to agree with all the proposed legislation. The fact that nothing was passed into law isn’t because of Mike Hill, it’s because of politics. As long as Mike Hill keeps fighting for the Constitution and the residence of Escambia County I’m still for him. One of the biggest issues that might kill faces is no different than any other representative from this area has ever faced. Panhandle a Florida has always been the bastard child August 8th. If you’re not from Tallahassee down to Miami nobody really cares. The people of the Panhandle get shunned year after year and this includes the politicians that represent the area.

    Good.

Mike is probably the only politician that I’ve ever really trusted in my entire life. I think most of his work in Tallahassee is difficult to pass because it doesn’t cave to special interests.
There are still a few men and women in politics that attempt to protect the Constitution regardless of the political outcome.

Mike Hill SAYS “all the right things” while campaigning for office, but does not do the hard work necessary for turning proposals into laws. Escambia deserves better.

I liked all the bills he sponsored. So far he is doing what he promised.

Dang, Mike. Who’d you tick off in Tally?

The Florida legislature passed 195 out of 1861 bills introduced this year, slightly over 10 per cent. Many legislators besides Rep. Hill came up empty at the end of the session. What is not mentioned is that Rep. Hill supported many of the bills that were passed that directly affect our area in positive ways. Getting a bill through, from introduction to passage is not an easy process and one can be derailed because of many reasons. That’s why almost 90 per cent failed this year. What is important is that Rep. Hill cares about his constituents and is our voice in Tallahassee.
