Dump Truck Driver Seriously Injured In Highway 97 Rollover Crash
May 22, 2019
A dump truck driver was seriously injured when his truck overturned, shutting down Highway 97 in Molino Wednesday afternoon.
Kevin Davis, age 32 of Milton, was southbound on Highway 29 when he attempted to turn north on Highway 97 about 3:15 p.m. Davis was traveling too fast to safely make the turn, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. His right tires ran off onto the west shoulder, then proceeded to lift off the ground. The truck continued in the turn on only the driver’s side tires on the ground before overturning across the the southbound lanes of Highway 97. There were no other vehicles involved in the crash.
After being extricated from the truck, Davis was transported by ambulance to the Molino Station of Escambia Fire Rescue and then airlifted to a Pensacola hospital.
No charges were immediately filed against Davis.
Highway 97 was closed for several hours as the wreckage and load of sand were cleaned up. The Molino and Cantonment stations of Escambia Fire Rescue and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office also responded.

Do Ya’ll ever “NOTICE” when getting off an interstate hwy the RAMP speed is always posted ( RAMP SPEED 20 MPH ) , That is for auto’s/cars . . . Big trucks MUST SLOW Down MORE ! Just Saying (former big trk driver) . . . Ya’ll Have A Great & SAFE Day !
Nothing wrong with the intersection. The problem is with truck drivers going way too fast.
SLOW DOWN! It’s not rocket science, people…
-1 Commercial Drivers License = 1 job opening.
My favorite is two situations:
1) People at a major intersection and they are stopped at a green light
2) People on major road who comes to a near complete stop then move into the turn lane.
I feel safer driving in Atlanta.
I saw this happen, guy was going way to fast to make that turn. I am guessing over 30 mph, I saw the dirt in the back shift and over he went. Hope he is going to be ok.
I was in traffic yesterday, with one person in front of me in a turning lane, green turn arrow lit up, but person in front of me just sat there…..i have them a little tap with the horn, and they gave me their middle finger…..lights don’t make some people smarter.
Newton’s First Law of Motion states that an object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless acted on by an external, unbalanced force. Now input a steep turn, to much speed, and a high center of gravity – And Wallah!
cj- glad someone saw my sarcasm. And now were getting a light at Molino Rd to FIX that problem.
Sarcasm. Not easily caught in print form. Made me laugh though. Thanks “StraightShooter”.
StraightShooter and BOGIAN – I guess the planners could plan all they want. Red lights don’t always fix the problem. Love your humor Hope the driver is going to be ok.
A red light would fix it…
How would a red light at this intersection (and one is there) make a difference in someone turning the corner in a safe manner? It’s a sharp turn in the direction he was going just like Hwy 29 turning West on Muscogee Road. Wide and sharp turns with speed will turn you over every time.
Hope he recovers from his injuries.
@straightshooter there is a red light where the Accident happened!!
@strightshooter it was at a red light if only big trucks would drive slower
If they would only put a red light here!!!!!
Please drive carefully. Glad driver is ok
Saw this right after it happened and I must say it could have been much worse especially if there would have been another vehicle beside him. This intersection is a dangerous one and I am not sure what is going on there cause there sure seems to be a lot accidents here but what ever the cause please use extra caution when going thru and be very careful my friends
So glad he didn’t land on someone. Hope he is ok
Saw that about 330. Was really hoping the driver was ok. Prayers for him. Nasty mess.
