Century Considers $92K Waterline To Benefit Business In Flomaton, AL
April 18, 2019
The Town of Century is considering a water line upgrade project to provide fire protection to a business across the state line in Flomaton, Alabama.
The project would upgrade an existing 2-inch water line along Ivey Street in Century to a 6-inch line to provide fire protection to Flomaton Storage. The business is an existing Century water customer.
The town’s water line will not cross the line in Alabama, but the Flomaton business will connect.
The cost of the project is estimated to cost up to $92,220 — $9,250 for engineering, $3,000 for survey work and $79,970 for the install work.
Existing Century water customers on Ivey Street will also connect to the new wate rline.
The Century Town Council has not yet approved the project.

You’re joking, right??
Wow way cheaper than they charged the new apartment complex that actually provides housing and a constant paying customer, huh.
Fire protection for a business does not make it feasible to invest this much in infrastructure when you have much bigger problems now. If it were a business that would be using 100,000 gallons a day, that’s a different story. Take the money your considering for this and hire an outside firm to come in and install all of those new gas meters that your gas supervisor just doesn’t seem to care to do. Then you can make revenue off of your investment.
Century cannot make payroll, but want to install a water line???
Century Corruption continues…SHUT THEM DOWN!!!
Bury the water line. As for the business being across the state line, thats a no brainer. They will pay their bill. Worry about those century folks on the free ride. I am still ill about paying all these years and over 200 other folks are free loading.
where did century get the extra 92,000???????????????????????
Why would you run water lines across the state line when all the water lines in Century need to be repaired to keep debris out of our water…start worrying about the people of our community…at least some of us pay our bills. Any money spent should be on our utility lines in Century. Keep the water tested more frequently, the sewer system and gas lines checked for problems. Be sure the employees are doing their jobs…You were elected to work to better Century…let’s make that happen.
Could Century solve its own problems first?
Sounds like a great opportunity to provide a greater volume of water that will potentially be non-billed.
And what is the return on the $92,000? One $30 per month customer? LOL! Let Flomaton run the waterline and stop the insanity and bleeding, both at the same time.
