April 8, 2019

A Cantonment man has been sentenced to 12 months probation after being accused of hitting a man in the head with a pipe during an argument

Jeremiah John Fontaine, 21, was originally charged with felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon but pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of misdemeanor battery.

Fontaine told deputies that he remembered getting into a big argument which led to a physical altercation before he left the scene, according to an arrest report, but he did not mean to kill or harm anyone.

He also received 50 hours community service.

To those of you who do not know Jeremiah, let me enlighten you on the man he really is.He is a man who goes to work daily to provide for our son. He comes home after a long day at work and helps clean house, cook dinner, take our son out to play and never complains. Not only is he a outstanding father but he is an outstanding husband. I watched this man push an elderly woman up a hill, all the way to her home about a mile away because her electric scooter ran out of charge. I have seen him give his own belongings to people in need. Before you people comment on an article that you are not involved in, or comment about a man you do not even fully know, think twice. Think about how you are making him feel, how you are making his son feel. This man would give anything to anyone in need. if you do not know his true character, then stop hiding behind your keyboards acting like everyone on this planet is perfect. we have all made mistakes, we have all done things we are not proud of. But that does not make Jeremiah any less human than the rest of us. He deserves more than the hate he is receiving. instead of being judgmental, offer words of encouragement to him and his family. let this man continue his life, do not sit here and make his life a living hell to better yourselves.

No required anger management classes? If he only got probation you would think they would want to help him make better choices when angered again. You can control yourself and how you react to situations not the other person.

@Susan—So I guess that you can hit a person on the head with a pipe, plead guilty, & still be a very nice young man?

@ David: Think of what this young man could have done if he was not the sweetest, kindest, young man could ever meet. Thank goodness he is not mean and has a bad attitude. I hope he never pulls a pipe on some people who have been known to carry a knife or a gun. That way he can be the good father/son/husband and friend for a longer time.

He is a very nice young man David if you knew him you would feel the same way

    CONSIDERING:
“he is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. He would do anything for anyone.”

Therefore it is a shame he pled guilty while being too nice to actually be guilty.

    David for justice
