72-Year Old Cantonment Man, Woman Facing Prostitution Charges

April 16, 2019

A Cantonment man and a Pensacola woman have been charged with prostitution by the Pensacola Police Department.

Vaughn Franklin Lowe, 72, was charged with purchasing the services of a prostitute, carrying a concealed weapon and driving with a suspended license. Melanie Anne Goodwin, 37, was charged with felony prostitution.

A Pensacola police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Lowe after it was spotted on a wooded service road near power substation in the area of “S” Street and Chase Street.

Lowe told the officer he was “just giving her a ride,” according to an arrest report, but recanted that statement when informed Goodwin has an “extensive” history of prostitution. Goodwin told police he paid Goodwin $20 for oral sex, the report states.

Lowe and Vaughn admitted to “several” previous encounters for cash, police said.

Inside the driver’s door pocket of Lowe’s F150, police reported finding a billy club, which lead to the concealed weapon charged. He was also cited for driving with a disqualified license, having an expired registration and failure to stop when exiting a private drive.

Lowe was released from the Escambia County Jail on a $3,000 bond. Goodwin remained jailed Monday with bond set at $5,000

@ Paul, being in the glove box takes 2 moves which is legal. Having the weapon in the door pocket is 1 move which is not legal ( w/o a permit)

Jason Ward, you voiced my thoughts exactly. So…two consenting adults forming a symbiotic relationship, a want and a need met. Illegal!

So we are sitting around the coffee table at our little meeting spot trying to solve the worlds’ problems. This subject of oral stuff comes up among a group of 70 year plus old fellows.
One thought it was just about talking about it. Another said he used to watch Dr. Ruth.
My next friend wanted to know if there was a statute of limitations. My other friend said he had no idea what we were talking about.

First off know your rights never admit to anything legal or not, these are the kind of officers that give police a bad name..

Wow. Every tree is now a potentially deadly weapon!

So, these two came to agreement to the satisfaction of both sides. Each of them got what they wanted. Nobody was hurt.
Now, an officer shows up and both get hurt.

The reason for the concealed weapon charge is that it was ready accessible to the driver, had it been behind the truck seat or somewhere the driver couldn’t have immediate access he wouldn’t have been charged.

In these violent times, protecting yourself from all the poison predators out there is now a fact of life. LEO’s must enforce laws that are on the books however ridiculous they may seem.

That billy club that the old man was in possession of may not have been a threat , but that stick in the wrong hands bent on malicious intent can be a very deadly weapon especially if someone is caught off guard. As far as the prostitution – the oldest profession lives on…

    Society is amazing:

We still have the act of paying someone for sex illegal but we can legalize a drug. A sexual act, maybe what, 3-5 minutes of pleasure (5 minutes…hahaha), the euphoria is gone and you can safely operate a vehicle, plane or church bus without fear of being impaired or putting anyone’s life at risk.

Not we can get a medical marijuana card, buy a drug with THC in it now and now only be able to eat and vape it but we can smoke it, get high and drive a car thus putting people in our society at risk. Does anyone see this as a weird issue?

I’m not supporting what the guy in this article did since he wasn’t in the privacy of his own home but look at the larger picture…

A billy club in a door pocket will get a concealed weapon charge?
I thought it was legal to have a gun in the glove box.

Probably more to this than reported, but for whatever reason, these two got a LEO’s attention.Facts from the story show most of us are always in violation of something: a billy club, probably kept in his truck for non lethal self defense, equates to a concealed weapon. Not stopping coming out of a private drive, i.e. your driveway, gets you charged. Not defending this individual, but there are so many ordinances on the books that no one in general has any knowledge of, you too can get your picture posted, among other pleasant interactions with authority.

This is an example of a government out of control . how can anyone judge a 72 year old man who still wants to have sex. I guess the crazy people of the world think he should take her to prom or something .One day if your lucky u might make 72 and be heathy enough for sex an the only way u will be able to find a partner will be to pay like the good man in the news. A 72 year old charged with carrying a concealed weapon for a stick, this is pitiful I bet the cop felt like he was really in danger.

Is this the same man that used to drive a school bus that was involved in a wreck?

Wow Mr. Lowe went for the trifecta of charges! and he had 15 extra $20’s for the bail!
