Northview Weightlifting Competes At Regionals; Kite Takes First And Advances To State

The Northview Chiefs boys weightlifting team competed that the Region 1-1A weightlifting meet Friday at Baker High School0
Individually, junior Trent Kite won the 129-pound region championship and earned an automatic bid to the FHSAA state championship weightlifting meet. Kite totaled 400 pounds on his two lifts and beat the second place lifter by 30 pounds overall. This is the second consecutive Region 1-1A Championship for Kite.
Also placing for the Chiefs were:
154-pound weight class: Jarius Moorer, 5th
169-pound weight class: Daniel Merit, 4th
183-pound weight class: Aunterio Minor, 6th
219-pound weight class: Jacob Hawkins, 5th; Lance McLaughlin 6th
As a team, the Chiefs placed fifth among the 16 total schools, falling to Panama City Arnold, Wewahitchka, Panama City Mosley and Baker, respectively.
The state championship will be held on Saturday, April 13 in Panama City.
