Driver Downs Utility Pole In Highway 95A Crash

March 19, 2019

There were no injuries when a driver crashed into a utility pole Monday night on Highway 95A south of East Kingfield Road.

The wreck caused a power outage in the area and closed Highway 95A during repairs.

The Florida Highway Patrol investigated the crash.

@Rational-you just think you know all the details don’t you?? Haha!!! Guess we could blame the news media for failing to mention that someone pulled out in front of my sister and they had to swerve nd hit the pole to avoid T-boning the car. What ignorance, and I assume you’re the PERFECT driver, yea ok!

That whole area is horrible to get in/out of anyway. The people pulling out of that burger place have a hard time seeing south on 95a and north isn’t much better because of all the trees and other growth alongside the road there. Honestly I’m surprised there aren’t more accidents in that spot. Glad there were no serious injuries in this one. The next might not be so lucky.

TJ, I most definitely agree with you. I forgot about how others lost power at their homes etc. In the state of shock and adrenaline rush, all I could think about in that moment was making sure everyone is ok. And was there a third party involved? Cars can be fixed/replaced, power lines can be put back up (that’s part of the job when you work at gulf power and get paid for), and even though people lost power and I know from experience how frustrating that is but that too will come back. But a life could of have easily been lost because that pole had the potential to come through the car and that would have been the end of it all. My children’s whole entire lives could have been tragically changed!! But today, I am thankful that we all got to wake up this morning to head to work like usual and move forward. As far as the careless driving from the person that caused the accident, I agree also that is a major factor and hopefully a hard lesson learned. We are all human and we all make mistakes whether it be big or small..luckily for him his lesson isn’t as bad as others and hopefully will be more cautious while driving. I apologize for anyone that was inconvenienced due to loss of power and I want to thank the police, FHP, fire dept/emt, gulf power, ecua, and the close by witnesses for helping in this time!

Kelli, I’m glad you and everyone else involved are ok. I have to disagree with you, however, that the fact that there were no injuries is “all that matters”. It also matters that someone was careless and not paying attention when they pulled out of Whataburger and could have killed or severely injured someone. It also matters that hundreds of homes were without power because of someones carelessness. It also matters that emergency and power personnel were called out for this preventable accident. The fact that there were no injuries is the main thing, but not “all that matters”. … I frequently drive 95A at night and I see careless drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists all the time. The lighting on that road is terrible and when cars are coming with bright headlights from the opposite direction it is almost impossible to see anything. One day someone will get injured or hurt, as they have in the past, because of someones carelessness and the dangerous conditions on that road.

The ignorance of some people smh. The vehicle belongs to me by the way! This incident would of never happened if the other party involved didn’t pull out in front of my vehicle from the whataburger parking lot!! FHP stated in the report that the other party involved was IN FACT at fault. I am blessed that everyone involved was able to walk away with no injuries and that’s all that matters :)

If it’s not trees jumping out in front of you, it’s power poles.

This person should have to pay for all repairs, equipment, etc. since he/she cannot focus on driving. Not to mention, reckless driving. Too many single vehicle accidents!
