ECSO: Century Man Busted With Nearly 1.5 Pounds Of Meth And Marijuana

February 1, 2019

A Century man was arrested on multiple drug charges after he was found with nearly 1.5 pounds of marijuana and methamphetamine, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

Tajah Derriontaé Calhoun, 20, was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, resisting an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was later released from the Escambia County Jail on a $127,000 bond.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office was conducting a “High Intensity Patrol” in the area of Kemp Road and Fields Lane, which they described as a known drug area. As deputies approached in marked patrol units, Calhoun ran. He jumped into a gated front yard on Fields Lane and threw a backpack and cellphone. A deputy caught up with Calhoun in a vacant field and placed him under arrest.

A search of Calhoun’s person reveled 8.5 Oxycodone pills, other unidentifiable pills, two phones and $1,320 in currency, according to an arrest report. A search of his backpack resulted in the discovery of 211 grams (7.44 ounces) of methamphetamine, almost 451 grams (about one pound) of marijuana, two rounds of ammunition, a box of clear baggies, and two digital scales.

The cellphones and cash were seized.

The report states that in-car video form deputies showed Calhoun throwing the backpack.

He ran from the Police. What makes them think he is not a flight risk. Should have been no bond for convicted felon having ammunition.

Maybe if u look at what’s going on in the town it has nothing to offer no jobs, schools, or a hospital it jus oppression. The town has grown in the last 30 years the highest paying job for someone that has a troubled past is Whataburger it’s a forgotten city that the county is not trying to develop. I’m pretty sure if it was any jobs there people would work is sad to see all the negativity that’s goin on and nobody is trying to make any changes to make it a better town besides looking to lock everyone up. Try putting some jobs there and see how the town thrives that’s something to thank about.

Please. Who says crime does not pay ? Not many 20 year olds would readily have $12,500 cash on hand to forfeit to get out on bond. He must have many irons in the fire and knows how bto offset this little setback

His decisions and actions are premeditated and deliberate. For the almighty $$’s selling poison is how he wants to make a living. Poisoning and harming others is the cost of doing business right? His ruination is his own. Round them all up, put them in prison. It’s all about the money, drug dealers care about nothing else.

He was mangling so much business he needed two cell phones. Perhaps Century’s mayor should look at him for the town clerk position.
