A Very Special Mardi Gras Parade (With Photo Gallery)

February 23, 2019

A very special Mardi Gras parade was held Friday morning for the special needs students of Escambia Westgate School.

With plenty of beads, Moon Pies, stuffed animals and smiles, the parade rolled through the school parking lot for students that might not otherwise be able to attend a regular Mardi Gras parade.

Mike and K.Powell — how interesting to see your comments – the little girl in the top photo was reacting to spotting the horses! (I know because I took that one!)

Thank you to both of you and your friends and co-workers for supporting the parade!

I had the extreme honor of assisting the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 340 with this wonderful event. This was my first time being there and I hope to return every year from now on. I remember seeing the little lady in the top picture, she was so happy and excited about the parade.
Well Done to the School, Escambia Sheriff’s and all the other people that help to make this a special event for the children

I ride with the Mounted Unit and I have to say this is our favorite detail we do all year, it’s such a special day for these children.
