Is Sonny’s BBQ Coming To Molino?

A spray painted sign in Molino has created quite the social media stir among local residents.
There may be a Smokey Bear nearby, but don’t get your hopes up for a smoked pork plate just yet.
The sign proclaims “Sonny’s BBQ Coming Soon” at Highway 29 and Highway 196. That’s near the Florida Forest Service fire tower, the local home of Smokey.
A spokesperson for Sonny’s corporate office told NorthEscambia.com Friday that there is no Sonny’s coming to Molino anytime soon. The only new Sonny’s in the near future for Escambia or Santa Rosa counties will be in Pace.

No legit corporation would use an amateur sign like that.
The other half of the same piece of plywood is being used to advertised a Walmart coming soon sign. Same red spraying paint, too. It’s on the Hwy 29 side if the road right in front of the Champion golf course. I think some creative prankster is having a bit of harmless fun. Can’t wait to see a few more, to see how creative they will get. Hope the folks here don’t get overly sensitive and take offense. Pretty harmless fun. Maybe a Coach on Muscogee Road?
The word around Pace is that Sonny’s will be built in front of Lowes on hwy 90. Land was just cleared and now they’re grading the land, bringing in dirt getting it level. Also, Popeye’s chicken is coming to Pace between air products and Advanced auto parts.

Man I thought it was going to be a dream come true. Nothing like good ole BBQ in the country!
Best news I’ve heard since I seen the sign
Thought it was a hoax from the first time I saw the sign. That lot is just 1 1/2 acres. Commercial buildings requires a holding pond for the parking etc. Not to mention a septic tank for a restaurant reguires to tank system….
We would LOVE to have a Sonny’s in Pace! Long over due!

There’s a sign almost identical to this one at the corner of Muscogee and Hwy 29 in front of the old golf course that says, “Wal-mart coming soon.”
Well darn, I saw that sign today and got excited. Oh well, maybe Sonny’s will see all the hype and decide to put one in! LOL

There is a Walmart coming soon sign at the Old champion golf course as well. Looks to be the same culprit that made that sign as well, very similar in appearance.
