Fate Welch, Jr., 86, of Brewton, AL, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018, in Bay Minette, AL. He was a foreman for a clock factory. He was born on February 20, 1932, in Monroe County, AL to the late Fate and Addie Presley Welch, Sr.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Edna Welch; and brothers, Manford Welch, Tom Welch, Leroy Welch and David Welch.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Ray “Ricki” Welch of Birmingham, AL and Terry Welch of Barrnetts Crossroads, AL; two daughters, Darlene (Duane) Homan of Bay Minette, AL and Charlene (Donald) Odom of Barrnetts Crossroads,AL; three brothers, James (Judy) Welch and Eugene (Bobbi) Welch, both of Bay Minette, AL and Edward (Linda) Welch of Monroeville, AL; three sisters, Lois Saints of Bay Minette, AL, Lilly Mae Welch and Louise (Levi) Thompson, both of Monroeville, AL; three grandchildren, Andrew Odom, Derek Homan and Josh Odom; and great-granddchildren, D.J. Homan and Bridget Homan.
Services will be Saturday, December 1, 2018, at 11 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tony Richburg and Bro. Josh Odom officiating.
Interment will follow in Pineview Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Josh Odom, Derek Odom, Stephen Welch, Jacob Welch, Sonny Martin and Arthur Odom.
Family will receive friends Friday, November 30, 2018, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

George C. Edwards

George C. Edwards, 87 of Pace, FL passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018. He was born on March 25, 1931, in San Francisco, California to the late William V. Edwards and Anna Mae Gunning Edwards. George joined the U. S. Navy on April 1, 1949, serving his country for 25 years. He worked as the service manager for Killinger Marine for 10 years, until opening his own boat hauling business, delivering boats from Key West to Maine to Alaska.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Wise Edwards; parents; and brother, Bill Edwards.
George is survived by his son, Marty (Debbie) Edwards; daughters, Darci Edwards Cobb and Tracy (Mike) Edwards Flota; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his lifelong fishing buddy, Elton Bowling.
A graveside inurnment will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2018, at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, Florida. Procession will leave Faith Chapel Funeral Home South, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, at noon.

Ms. Sierra Denise Gollotte, age 25, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018, in Mobile, Alabama.
Ms. Gollotte was a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL. She was of the Baptist faith. She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Margaret Gollotte; uncle, Dwayne Gollotte and maternal grandfather, Paul Walker.
She is survived by her father, Brian K. Gollotte of Mobile, AL; mother, Charlene Denise Walker of Talladega, AL; two sons, Hayden Christopher Gollotte of Mobile, AL and Lynden Gollotte of Mobile, AL; four brothers, Keiden (Kayla) Gollotte of Mobile, AL, Donavon Gollotte of Talladega, AL, Matthew Gollotte of Talladega, AL and Jacob Gollotte of Raleigh, NC; grandfather, Stanford Gollotte of Mobile, AL and maternal grandmother, Mary Faye Walker of Grand Bay, AL.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Trevor Daughtry and Bro. Jerry Sanchez officiating.
Burial will follow at the Poplar Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Keith Andrew Lodge, age 54, passed away Monday, November 26, 2018, in Pensacola, Florida.
Mr. Lodge was a native of Century, FL, former resident of Cantonment, FL and had resided in Flomaton, AL for the past 15 years. He was a member of the Bratt First Baptist Church, a 1982 graduate of Tate High School and crane operator with GE of Pensacola.
He is survived by his parents, Ralph and Martha Lodge of Cantonment, FL; wife, Alissa Lodge of Flomaton, AL; two daughters, Megan (Harley) Davis of Century, FL and Colbi (Matthew) Lee of Flomaton, AL; one sister, Cindy Hamlett of Cantonment, FL; four grandchildren, Clayton Davis, Rylee Kendall, Kennan Lee and Blake Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 30, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Delbert Redditt and Bro. Tim Hawsey officiating.
Burial will follow at the Poplar Dell Cemetery.

One Injured In Cantonment Highway 29 Wreck
November 27, 2018
At least one person was injured in two vehicle accident Tuesday evening on Highway 29 at Woodland Street in Cantonment.
The driver of a car was transported to an area hospital by Escambia County EMS.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, which occurred in front of the Cantonment Station of Escambia Fire Rescue.

Here are couple of ways to help, or choose the charity of your choice to take part in Giving Tuesday.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services helps Floridians maximize their donations by providing detailed information on charities registered in Florida.
Floridians should to take the following simple steps when preparing to make a charitable contribution:
- Check-A-Charity Before Donating
Use the department’s Check-A-Charity tool at FloridaConsumerHelp.com to view a charity’s financial information, how contributions are being spent and current registration status, or call 1-800-HELP-FLA (435-7352).
- Watch out for Scams
Scammers take advantage of people’s generosity by pretending to be a real charity to commit fraud. Frequently, bogus charities will exploit a recent natural disaster or tragedy, such as a hurricane, and promise to use the donations to aid victims. It is also important not to judge a charity solely on its name, as many organizations may use names similar to well-known charities and organizations.
- Keep Good Records
Always obtain and save a printed copy of a donation or a receipt of the contribution amount. Not all organizations soliciting in the name of benevolence are true charities eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions. Ask about the organization’s federal and state eligibility for receiving tax deductible donations. Typically, such donations fall under Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3).
All charities soliciting within Florida, excluding religious, educational, political and governmental agencies, are required to register and file financial information with the department. If a professional solicitor is requesting a donation on behalf of a charity, the solicitor also must be registered with the department and should be able to provide their registration number.
Trailer Used By Cantonment Church For Food Bank Is Stolen

A trailer used by a local church to transport items for their food bank has been stolen.
The trailer was stolen from the Harvest Christian Center at 1095 Muscogee Road. It has the words “Journey by Pace” and “Made in America” on it with Florida tag 427RGC. The picture is similar to the one stolen, but the one belonging to the church was much older and only has doors on the rear.
Harvest Christian Center’s food bank has distributed nearly 50,000 pounds of food this year to help feed the community. The church is in need of a trailer by December 9 to pick up food for another distribution.

‘Keep The Wreath Green’ Fire Safety Campaign Kicks Off Saturday

Escambia County Fire Rescue, in collaboration with the Pensacola Fire Department, will launch its annual “Keep the Wreath Green” fire safety campaign Saturday. While a joyous time of year, cold weather, holiday decorations and festivities can create serious fire dangers. Firefighters hope to reduce the number of fires by promoting simple, lifesaving holiday safety tips each day in December.
During the month-long campaign, five-foot wreaths will also be on display at 18 county fire stations and five city fire stations, with wreaths also be placed outside Escambia County’s Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building downtown, the Escambia County Public Safety Building, Pensacola City Hall and Cordova Mall near the food court entrance. Each time firefighters respond to a residential fire with damage, a green light bulb will be replaced with a red one to remind citizens of the dangers posed by fires in residential home. In 2017, 10 bulbs were changed to red on county wreaths, and the city had seven red bulbs.
According to the United States Fire Administration, fires occurring during the winter claim the lives of over 900 people and cause over $2.1 billion in damage. Nationally, cooking is the leading cause of home winter fires, with 5 to 8 p.m. being the most common time for a fire to occur. A working smoke detector cuts the chances of dying in a reported fire in half. Escambia Tax Collector Offers Property Tax Payment Plan

Need a little time to pay your property taxes?
Escambia County Tax Collector Scott Lunsford is offering taxpayers a chance to make partial payments.
If a property owner decides to make partial payments, the following information applies:
- Property owner must submit an application (found on the back of the tax bill, available at the tax collector’s office and on our website) with initial partial payment.
- Partial payments are accepted for current year taxes only from November 1 until March 31.
- No discount allowed for partial payments.
- A $10 processing fee deducted from each partial payment.
- Partial payments are not accepted after March 31, and any remaining balance as of April 1 is delinquent and subject to all applicable penalties and fees.
