Escambia Man Gets 25 Years For Molesting Two Children

December 2, 2018

An Escambia County man has been been sentenced to prison for child molestation.

William Thomas Wells, 35, entered a plea to five counts of lewd or lascivious molestation on a victim under 12, and  two counts of possession of child pornography. Circuit Judge Joel Boles sentenced the defendant to 25 years state prison as a minimum mandatory sentence followed by lifetime sex offender probation. Wells was also designated as a sexual predator.

In May of 2017, a 7-year old and a 9-year old disclosed that Wells had sexually abused them.

Trocarkan, because that is what the sentencing guidelines call for in state law.

Anne, they are in general population as far as I know. As far as recividism of sex offenders, amazingly enough studies show only about 3-7% will return to prison for another sex related offense. Most of these crimes are being done by first time offenders like this person and as you noted, could be your friend, coworker, sitting at the next table, or even in the same pew.

Have heard that these Child Sex Abusers are put into their own sections of state prisons and kept away from the General Population. That is for their own protection.
Might not be the true case, just what I’ve heard.
Think it’d be better for all if these persons who molest and harm children were in the same prison areas and outside yards as the General Population.
Maybe the lessons would be better learned that way.
Agree, no “healing” or “rehab” for these individuals most likely they will re-offend.
Crazy thing is, it might be the woman or guy who works not far from your desk and you have no idea of their perversion. Children need to be protected.

Why didn’t he get life in prison?

I agree with Shay, 25 years is not enough. Should have been life plus. He will not change. And these poor children have s lot of years to relive what this monster has done to them. I think molesting children should automatically be a life sentence.

Not enough time for the lifetime of damage he has done to those children
