The interstate at one time was the safer roads. Not anymore. Slow down and be very diligent. Please don’t let anything distract you. Put those cell phones down!

Shane Scott, that man was my friend. Maybe you should just keep your thoughts in your head instead of blaming him. You didn’t know him. You didn’t know how he drove. I know you don’t care and it doesn’t matter to you, but you should remember people are hurting and your comments did nothing to help.

This accident was awful and almost caused several more. I don’t know why the construction company didn’t give more notice or any advance notice at the beginning of the bridge that the left lane was closed now and not the right. They got a truck down there after the accident with a huge lighted arrow pointing to the right lane. That truck went around in the left shoulder to get past the traffic back up to get there and arrived just prior to the police and ambulance from what I could tell. Because the ambulance and all went down the shoulder to get there as well and they did come through after that truck on the west side of the accident anyway. I don’t know if any emergency personnel had arrived at the accident before the truck coming from the east. I just wonder if that was sent down there just to help traffic because of the accident or if it was supposed to be there all along. After seeing the vehicles and motorcycle, my opinion is that they should have had a truck like that down there all along once they decided to then close the left lane and change the traffic pattern. I am not saying that the motorcycle shouldn’t have been more defensive driving, because I don’t know whether the person in front was paying attention or not and maybe slammed on the brakes, causing the others to run into them. I have seen people driving crazy in this area coming to the end of the bridge a lot over the past two years. I believe more signs should be put up and the speed limit should be greatly reduced while this construction is going on. It gets even worse right there when it’s dark with people traveling home from work or whatever. Working in Pensacola and driving to Milton that way each day, I have seen a huge mess there quite a few times. The people stopping to look, made this back up worse and almost caused more accidents. There were people trying to race up to the arrow truck and then trying to push their way into the far right lane, instead of clearly seeing the lights, knowing there was an accident, and trying to get to the right earlier, or wait their turn to be let over. Everyone seemed to be letting at least one car come over at a time, but apparently that wasn’t fast enough for the people trying to fly and push their way over. I am anxious to see if any fault is placed on anyone besides the motorcyclist. Concerned for all my friends and family who come through that way everyday as well as the public. It’s definitely a dangerous area.

I thought the same thing, Shane Scott. No sign that warns of a new traffic pattern or any other signage that warns drivers of the left lane closing, until you are almost to the end of the bridge. By then it’s too late. There was no doubt in my mind about what happened when we drove by it. I had to remind my husband of it this morning when he tried to go around someone. He very well could have done the same thing. Very dangerous spot for sure.

Follow up on previous comment. As a motorcycle rider….the guy should also have had a heightened sense of defensive driving as well. But again I think comparable negligence for the construction company, the motorcyclist and State of FL.

Two years the signs at I10 on Escambia Bay bridge say right lane closed. Then one day signs say left lane closed. No warning to drivers about new traffic pattern after two years. That construction One has killed about 5 motorists over the years that I recall. Shame on Prince construction and State of FL for not finishing that project and poor warnings for motorists.
