Kristianna Danielle Boutwell
October 28, 2018
Miss Kristianna Danielle Boutwell, of Jay, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was 6 and would have celebrated her 7th birthday on October 28th.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Berrydale Baptist Church. Bro. Robert Gandy will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, November 2, 2018, and on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. until time of services at 3 p.m. Interment will follow in the Berrydale Baptist Church cemetery with Kent Baker of Jay Chapel and Keahey Funeral Home directing.
ristianna will be greatly missed by her loving mother, Nora Danielle King (stepdad James “Jimmy” Goossen) of Jay; her father, Stanley Ray Boutwell, Jr. of Flomaton; her 15 year old brother, Stanley Ray Boutwell, III; her 10 year old sister Adrianna Marie Boutwell, her 2 year old sister, Mercedes Grace Boutwell, all of Jay; maternal grandmother, Susan Darline Hawkins of Jay (affectionately known as “Drammy” to Kristianna); maternal grandfather, Donald Earl King (wife Leslie) of Atmore; paternal grandparents, Stanley Ray Boutwell, Sr. and Barbara Ann Boutwell, of Flomaton; Aunt Tammy Pearson of Uriah, Alabama; Aunt Carolyn Boutwell Scott (husband Gary) of Jay; Aunt Stephanie Boutwell of Flomaton; Uncle Jeremiah Phillips of Jay; 1st cousins, Samantha Pearson of Uriah, Al; Brianna Pearson of Uriah, Al; Austin Boutwell, Matthew Boutwell, Dillan Scott, all of Jay and a host of other cousins and relatives.
Kristianna had been so excited about her upcoming birthday and about the upcoming Halloween holiday. For Halloween, she had planned to be a Mermaid. Kristianna had attended Kindergarten at Jay School and was in Mrs. Ashton Ashworth’s 1st Grade Class this year. She loved going to school, loved her teacher, and loved her school mates. She loved going to church at Barrydale Baptist Church. Kristianna loved to swim and remarkably at the young age of 3, while swimming with her mother at the grandparent’s home, she announced that she wanted to “swim by herself”. To everyone’s astonishment, Kristianna swam across the pool on top of the water and then across the pool under the water!
At about age 3, her brother, Stanley gave her a blue “blankie”; Kristianna instantly fell in love with it, even later as it became “worn from much love” she would not trade it in for a new “girlie” pink one. Her mother lovingly stated, “Bless her heart, she still liked to suck her thumb while snuggling with her blue “blankie”. She loved to cuddle with her mother and they had names for each other, “Cuddle Buddies”. Kristianna loved making home videos with her older sister, Adrianna and acting like they were on YouTube.
Kristianna loved animals; one year she asked for a cat for her birthday, not just any cat, but one that she requested be a “white with blue eyes”. She got her white cat with blue eyes and it quickly became her favorite pet. She named her cat “Foxy Girl”. Kristianna may have only had 6 brief years with her family and friends, but she made a momentous impact on everyone who knew her. Kristianna was truly an angel on earth and the family knows she is with her Heavenly Father today celebrating her 7th birthday and wearing the most angelic “Mermaid” outfit imaginable.
The family asked that anyone who would like to share a special memory of Kristianna, a comforting Bible scripture or other words of comfort for them to draw strength from in the days and years ahead, that each message of comfort and encouragement be given to the Jay Chapel-Keahey Funeral Home staff during the visitation times and a special memory book will be composed by the funeral home staff for the family to cherish.

Northview Blanks Snook 56-0
October 27, 2018
The Northview Chiefs earned a big 56-0 senior night win over the Eagles of Snook Christian Academy.
“It was a good game by our guys,” Northview football coach Derek Marshman said. “I thought for the first time we came out with a lot of urgency. We played good football for, really for four quarters.”
Northview held a commanding 20-0 lead by the end of the first quarter, and the Chiefs were up 49-0 at the half before going on to a 56-0 win in Bratt.
“Right there at the end we had a bunch of young guys in. They let some emotions get to them; some penalties kind of hurt us,” he said.
The Chiefs (5-4) will wrap up their regular season next Friday night on the road against the Freeport Bulldogs (3-6). Freeport is coming off a 30-26 loss to Jay Friday night.
“If we can with that one, it should secure us a home playoff spot. So it’s going to big for us to go over there and get a victory,” Marshman said.

Hazmat Team Stationed In Cantonment, Ensley Gets New Response Vehicle
October 27, 2018
Escambia County’s Hazmat team, which is stationed between the Ensley and Cantonment fire stations, has a new response unit.
The vehicle was donated by the Okaloosa County via the Ocean City Wright Fire Department. The new apparatus allows the Hazmat team to transport up to six Hazardous Materials Technicians and a wide variety of equipment for detection and mitigation to an incident all in one vehicle, which greatly reduces response time.
The 2000 model Pierce hazardous material response unit is equipped with a command and research area, power generator, scene lighting and compressed air for responders. Previously, the HAZMAT team used multiple utility pick-up trucks and trailers to respond with similar equipment. By decreasing the time needed to arrive on scene and being equipped with a more capable response unit, the county will be able to reduce the exposure and impact to citizens and the environment during a hazardous materials incident.
““We are ecstatic about this acquisition. Our Special Operations Teams will now be more effective than ever, as we continue to make Escambia County one of the safest places to live, work, and visit. Escambia County Fire Rescue is very grateful to both the Okaloosa and Escambia County Commissions for making this possible for our team and region,” Escambia Fire Rescue Chief Rusty Nail said.
Strategically located between the interstate, railways and many industrial companies, Escambia County’s Hazmat team is housed at the Ensley and Cantonment Stations. With at least eight hazardous materials technicians on duty 24 hours a day, Escambia County has the capability and equipment to decontaminate, treat and transport victims of chemical or biological exposure. The team can respond to a wide variety of calls from household propane gas leaks, rail or transportation accidents involving chemicals, industrial leaks of materials like acid, gasoline, or chlorine; spills caused by a natural disaster like a hurricane, to an act of terrorism like dangerous biological materials found in the mail. When not responding to or training for hazardous materials emergencies, team members respond to day-to-day fire and medical emergencies.
Escambia County Fire Rescue’s Hazmat team is a state regional asset and is one of only 20 in Florida qualified to respond to Type 1 and Type 2 hazardous materials incidents. This means they are appropriately equipped and trained to handle all industrial chemical and weapons of mass destruction hazards in any form such as liquid, aerosol, powder, solids and vapor or gas.
