Y’all are proposing a hefty fine for those citations. Let me remind you that a small fender bender with little damage is a careless driving citation. So why would someone who bumped some het a $2500 fine. That’s ridiculous.
@ John
You’re sure making some good comments. I’d add a $2500 fine on the
1st wreckless/careless and $5000 on the 2nd and 6 months no drivin. The
3rd $10,000 and no driving for 5 years. I’d bet the Insurance Companies
wouldn’t mind at all. Lol sometimes gotta force the careless to be mindful.
I agree CW, the more altered a vehicle is, the more likely it is to handle poorly. Especially in emergency situations. common sense,,,
Get some laws changed like for instance….if a individual gets a citation for “careless driving” or “reckless driving” take their license for 3 months first offense…then mandatory driver improvement School. 3-4 offenses in ten years your off the road for good!!!
Everyone on the road should be tested equally if not just a stringent as a Class A CDL driver.
And yes against what some other commenters say human behavior can be altered.
@Richard I’m glad y’all are going to be OK. Prayers for all, including those arguing below!
Why do people make comments such as “something needs to be done about this”, accidents happen everywhere. This is a Highway. The human factor seems to be at fault here. Glad nobody died. I hope the injured people recover quickly.
Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers my wife and I are beat up and sore but we are going to make it I hope other driver will make it as well thanks again and God Bless
@wilykyote I know for a fact the Tahoe pulling a boat was pulled off the road bc it’s my daughter’s boyfriends parents. She went to the hospital last night. They were waiting on their sons to bring them gas. They were way off the road.
@ JIM
you guessing or you know ?
Butler’s U-Pull It will have a few more parts now. How is it that a truck hits a SUV with a boat and trailer parked many feet from the roadway?
By the way, we own one of those trucks and they drive and handle just fine. After the FHP report is available, I doubt speed had anything to do with this. The speed limit in that area is 60mph I believe. But, I bet you a cell phone or another distraction did.
Prayers and I hope everyone recovers from their injuries.
MAKE IT A HABIT TO KEEP BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL.
way to many accidents in this area something has got to change very soon . people need to slow down and pay attention to the road . driving is not a game . if need be drop the speed limit to 35 if need be and then the sheriff ofice and fla highway patrol need to set up traffic watch !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@CW
The lift of this truck has zero to do with this accident, and they handle fine. Try aging about something you know nothing about.
@wilykyote : One vehicle, with its boat & trailer, was stopped and well off on the shoulder. The other truck ran off the road and plowed into it. I don’t think it had anything to do with “racetrack” speed.
Another lifted truck. I see these top heavy things all the time bobbing and weaving all over the place, and I keep my distance from them. They cannot handle an emergency maneuver, so they either roll over or plow into whatever is ahead.
2 more for the junk pile…..the Hwy 29 Racetrack
is still open for business.
