Highway 29 Resurfacing Project Is Now Complete

September 28, 2018

A $5.25 million Highway 29 resurfacing project from Cantonment south is now complete.

The improvement included resurfacing a 5.3 mile section of the four-lane roadway southward from Muscogee Road, drainage improvements, traffic signal upgrades at West 10 Mile Road and East Kinsgfield Road, new signage, pavement striping, and reflective pavement markers.

“The newly resurfaced roadway provides maximum benefit to the traveling public by enhancing the safety of the roadway and improving the ride comfort of the road surface,” according to Tanya Branton, public information specialist for the Florida Department of Transportation.

    You know all these road construction companies that think they are so great… Ha! They act like they are God. I think they all including the road commissions should be put in the back of a truck and rode over all these so called improvements.
    Common sense goes a long way!

    @potholedodger,
    Be careful what you wish for, these folks have done nothing but make a hot mess out of HWY 29. After seeing the work this company is doing, I wish the County would have left well enough alone and never done anything at all. I can’t believe whom ever is charge of over-seeing this project has allowed the contractors to leave this major thoroughfare highway in such disrepair. Likely because they don’t have to drive it daily themselves. It is going to cost those of us who have to travel this disaster daily a lot of money to fix our vehicles alignments, tires and suspensions for many years to come.

    What about the yellow line just south of IP where they spilled paint about 1/4 mile long. Shouldn’t they have to fix that or is it just that it is Cantonment so it doesn’t really count?

    I agree that the new drains all the way to Airport will knock your teeth out and damage your car. Are they going to cover those awful things? How come the curve before the railroad crossing at the plant headed North still floods? I didn’t know any work had been done from the way it looks after a rain!

    What about from the 9 mile road overpass down to airport blvd? How much longer will that take? That’s the bad area.
