Dorothy Frances Cole “Dot” Hendrix

Dorothy Frances Cole “Dot” Hendrix, 88 of Atmore, AL passed away September 16, 2018 in Atmore. She was born on December 30, 1929 to the late Dr. David DuBose and Martha Schulz Cole in Monroe County, AL. She was a longtime member of The First Baptist Church of Atmore, where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Awana. She was a lifelong homemaker whose love for cooking was surpassed only by her love for family.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 69 years, William Herbert “Bill” Hendrix, and two sisters Elisabeth McCaskey, and Ann Byrd.

She is survived by her son Bert (Sandra) Hendrix of Mobile, AL, her daughter Sheri (Jack) Darby of Atmore, AL, and her son Robert (Melanie) Hendrix of Atmore, AL. Grandchildren are Elisabeth (Heath) Ward, Hayley (Zac) Palm, Will Hendrix, Jana Hendrix and Deeya (Silas) Seamans. Great grandchildren are Hendrix Ward, Mary-Grace Ward, Anna Kate Palm, Lee Palm, Darby Locke, and Dillon Seamans.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 2:30PM from the First Baptist Church of Atmore with Dr. Larry Patterson and Bert Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Will Hendrix, Heath Ward, Zac Palm, Jack Hendrix, George Watkins, Thomas Guy, Michael Williamson, and Steve Jernigan.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM, from the First Baptist Church of Atmore.

The family requests donations to The Patterson Chapel Renovation Fund at First Baptist Church, The Gideons International, or Pilots for Christ.
