Denver “Bubbie” Blake Shuttlesworth

Denver “Bubbie” Blake Shuttlesworth, age 19, passed on Thursday, September 6, 2018 in Memphis, Tennessee.

Denver was a native and life-long resident of the Atmore, AL area. He was a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and Friendly Holiness Church. He was a 2017 graduate of the Victory Performing Arts Academy of Pace, FL, member of the Poarch Creek Indians 4-H Club, and the Poarch Creek Indians Summer Youth Program. He was the 2016 Joy of Life Mardi Gras King, played football and baseball at J U Blacksher School, participated in the Native American Youth Organization (NAYO), and was a member of the Skyhigh for St. Jude. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfathers, William Fretwell and Jerry Bailey, paternal grandparents, Worthy James Shuttlesworth and D.D. Darnell.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Sandy and Darrell Hollinger of Uriah, AL; father, Randal Shuttlesworth of Perdido, AL; brother, Austin Shuttlesworth of Perdido, AL; sister, Anna Grace “Tootie” Hollinger of Uriah, AL; maternal grandmother, Ruth Bailey of Poarch, AL; paternal grandmother, Gladys Darnell of Tuscaloosa, AL; grandparents, Alex “Buster” and Yvonne “Pug” Hollinger of Uriah, AL; special uncle, Randy Fretwell of Poarch, AL; numerous uncles, aunts, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the McCullough Christian Center with Pastor Ray Ward, Bishop Darryl North, and Pastor Trevor Daughtry, and Pastor Todd Bailey officiating.

Burial will follow at the New Home Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 10, 2018 from 6:00 PM until service time at 11:00 AM at the McCullough Christian Center.

Pallbearers will be Austin Shuttlesworth, Randy Fretwell, Jr., Dalton Tolbert, Logan Peaden, Cody Rolin, Hunter Tuberville, Joseph Parker, and Thornton Sells.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeff Ostmeyer, Jeff Rollo, Wes Rollo, Hunter Peaden, Lane Peaden, Corey Bailey, Rusty Lassiter, Clint Lassiter, Kenneth Robinson, Garrett McMillan, Dakota Barlow, Austin Hadley, Billy Long, and the Poarch Creek Indians Tribal Council.

The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers throughout their journey. A very special thank you is extended to St. Jude’s Hospital, Pilots for Christ, Ronald McDonald House, North Baldwin Infirmary, Atmore Community Hospital, and the Poarch Creek Indians Health Department.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and Pilots for Christ at P.O. Box 707, Monroeville, AL 36461.
