That’s crazy that a bike has the same right as a vehicle.

There is little to no traffic enforcement in unincorporated parts of Escambia County.

Friend’s husband was stopped at an intersection when 17 year old man hit the side of his car with a bicycle. Said he was looking at phone and didn’t see car. Others saw it and stopped as witnesses for friend. When told the LEO was being called the guy begged saying “I’ve got WARRANTS” and when law showed up he took off running. LEO said they were very familiar with him.
Damage to car was over $2,000 with $500 deductible.
17 year olds aunt showed up in car wondering when friend’s husband was going to get the kid a new bike. LEO said they needed her info and she took off.
Yes, some very law abiding bike riders out there but many are not paying attention.
Glad no serious injuries in this event.

What I want to know is how did the LEFT FRONT corner of the vehicle hit him? Look at all of the pictures closely, it took place at an intersection, yes, but the bicycle is on the right side of the car not the left side?????????

Unless something has changed, a bicycle has the same rights to the road as any vehicle but must ALSO follow all road rules. Unfortunately, many do not heed these rules, have no lighting or reflectors, wear dark clothing, go back and forth across the lanes, drive towards oncoming traffic and more. For their own safety, they should allow passing as with any slow moving vehicle and move to the right a little to allow for this. They have no bumpers and should realize this when riding.

There has been an individual on this stretch of road who rides in the road and will not get off of the road when traffic approaches from both directions. This has happened to me twice when approaching the person. I had to almost come to a stop and blow my horn for him to get off of the road and the individual looks at me like I’m crazy. Hope this individual will be okay.

It’s easy to say you didn’t see them when they’re wearing camo..

Dangerous intersection. One of my friends was in an accident in that same exact spot. Be careful people.
