$1.3 Million Contract Awarded For Drainage Improvements In Carver Park Area
August 21, 2018
Escambia County has awarded a nearly $1.3 million contract for drainage improvements in the area surrounding Carver Park in Cantonment.
The project will improve drainage south of Muscogee Road, roughly in a triangular shape area bordered by Louis Street, Booker Street and Washington Street. The project will include the construction of roadside swales, ditch bottom and curb inlets, reinforced concrete and polyethylene storm water transmission pipes and a single dry retention pond to be located east of Ransom Street.
Water mains will also be relocated, and the streets will be milled and resurfaced.
The $1,291,129.48 contract was awarded to B&W Utilities, Inc. Other bids ranged from over $1.5 million to $1.7 million.

What happened to the sidewalks
I hope who ever does the job does a lot better then the mess that was left on both Chandler & Chauncey Streets.
Roads are a mess and where they ran under line drainage pipes the top surface is caving in. They left 2 months ago and never re-seeded the grass in front of the homes.
Then to really piss the neighbors off. They dug up concrete driveway pads to run drain pipe under. But when they replaced them the street water now runs off the road and drains into everyone’s front yard and driveways.
Catch drains were only put by the corners of main roads. For the last three years the area has flooded badly during all heavy storms. We were promised that after construction the flooding would end. It only become worst.
Praise the Lord! Thanks to the CIC, (Josh Womack, Mike Riley among others),the Cantonment Rotary and the Escambia County Commissioners. My family lived on Webb St since 1947 and remember how bad the flooding was. Those of us that live/lived on Webb street are relieved that something is finally being done. With the Carver Park Drainage Improvement. I pray that the TREES can be preserved (They were there when our families moved there in 1947) because they represent the history of that area shown on your MAP.
Thanks again to the CIC, for pushing to get this done for the whole community!
That is great news!
There are wetlands in that area.
