Grand Jury Report Remains Secret On Allegations Involving ECUA
July 19, 2018
An Escambia County grand jury has completed its review into complaints and allegations involving the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority.
The grand jury has returned a report, but that report has not been released. It has been sealed by the court and will remain secret for now.
“All matters contained in this report are required to remain secret until released by the Court,” a press release from the State Attorney’s Office said. “For these reasons no further information may be provided by this office regarding this matter.”

Turned water on a property to clean up while we foreclosed on it. Have an $85 bill for less than (100) gallons. ONE HUNDRED. All their extra charges were not told to me. I was looking for $20 a month.DUH
I live alone and my ECUA bill is more than my neighbors and they have 4 kid’s and a pool, I also have $11:50 in different fee’s they have added on my bill in the last 9 months i called and im told they cant do any thing about it, I have lived in my house for 18 yrs. Im on ssi i could use that xtra $11:50 to pay the Ele bill or food and then we are told the report will remain sealed ?? Some one has a nice piggy bank !!
The ECUA is the biggest fraud entity in Escambia county. They have to answer to no one. They are not for profit, so they blow money like crazy so the can claim they need to raise rates for more money. Just take a look at the vehicles they drive vs County vehicles. They used to pick up my garbage twice a week, then went to once a week, for a reduction of services of 50% and reduced my bill by a $1.87.
UNSEAL the report, not that any heads would roll anyway.
A secretive government cannot be trusted. Throw them all out of office.
Wonder who the JUDGE is ?
So much for government in the sunshine laws.
“SEALED” ??
So what was or is going on that there is a Sealed report from a Grand Jury?
One thing we do know is that for the past several months there has been work going on downtown on West Government Street where the pumping plant is. The work has “liquid” flowing freely down the sidewalks and street gutters into the storm drains and likely into Pensacola Bay.
Too much secluded and secret stuff going on within the ECUA which has seeming impunity to any laws.
Unseal the documents and let We the People see what’s happening with Our money.
What was the purpose of the report if it is to remain sealed?
Read the minutes of the Board meetings. See how many times the Competitive Bid rules are waived and contracts are awarded.
