Another Man Arrested For Helping Deadly Hit And Run Suspect Avoid Capture

July 19, 2018

Pensacola Police have arrested a man for helping a deadly hit and run suspect avoid capture.

Ali Rashaan Freeman, 39, has been charged with being an accessory after the fact, a second degree felony, for assisting Markquise DeShawn Wallace avoid capture.

Wallace has an active warrant for a deadly hit and run which occurred on June 6 on Cervantes Street.

PPD said Freeman assisted Wallace in avoiding capture and assisted him with hiding evidence by going with Wallace the day after the crash to purchase a cargo trailer in order to conceal and move the white Dodge Challenger that Wallace was driving when he struck three pedestrians, killing two of them.

Wallace also told Freeman that he (Wallace) was the person who struck the people at M and Cervantes Street. Freeman never came forward with that information.
Detectives are still searching for Wallace, following leads both within the community and out of state. The investigation involving others who have assisted Wallace is continuing with more arrests anticipated.

Tadrian Rushing, 20, was previously charged by Pensacola Police with being an accessory after the fact, a second degree felony, for assisting Wallace avoid capture.

Three people were crossing Cervantes Street near M Street when they were hit by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Neariaah Ikerria Williams, age 8 months,  and a family friend, 28-year-old Nephateria Monique Williams, died. The child’s mother, 27-year-old Quineka Tyon Baldwin, was injured.

Anyone with information on the crash or Wallace  is asked to call 911, the Pensacola Police Department, or Crime Stoppers at (850) 433-STOP.

The black community is very close. I can not believe someone would help this person escape. He killed a child! His mom rented BOTH cars for him? So she knew he did it. How can the families of the people hiding him show thier face in church?

@Sage 2: I remember Dr. Largue well. If she mentored him, he was truly blessed and has no excuse for where he is now. As I tell my inmate students, “My choices got me where I am today, and your choices got you where you are today.” This guy, if he has any chance of redemption in his life, should come forward and accept responsibility, and use his jail time to help others and improve himself. That, however, is most likely a dream unless Jesus is involved.

I knew this young man as a student at Pine Forest High School. Where in this world could he have gotten off the track to success? He was just a model student. His mentor was our principal Eula Mae(Robin) Largue that worked with him to set him on the right path. Many times she would counsel him to keep in on track/studies.

Such a shame to see him caught up in this mess!

Two individuals now helping him avoid authorities. Well now I am curious; is this just an extended family, or do we have a (somewhat) organized ring of criminals operating in the county. He had a long and established record of recidivism, and is obviously not alone.

When the hit and run murderer is caught give him a death sentence, put the other aid and abettors in prison till they are old and feeble. All a disgrace to humanity

    @ Grand Locust

Scuttlebutt is that both cars this Markquise DeShawn Wallace was driving had been rented by his Mom because he has no driver license due to it being suspended.

Sometimes the LEO are working a case behind the scenes and giving out sensitive information would be like providing that Wallace coward with a warning as to what is being done to find him.
Sort of like an ex-president telling the enemy when the US forces would be withdrawing from a battle area.

What puzzles me is with all this media hoopla about Community and Lives being Important how can someone like Wallace continue to be on the run and why hasn’t one of our fine citizens turned in the needed information leading to his capture and arrest.
Of course he may be in one of our wonderful ‘Sanctuary Cities’.

But back to your question, Wallace’s Mother is the one who is said to have rented both cars for her boy.
Hope that he is found soon, but there’s a huge web of ugliness going on in this matter.

As I posted weeks ago, how do you not have rental car agencies in your region on a phone tree when beginning a hit and run accident investigation? This car was unique. Days went by before the public could be given information about this suspect which would have aided in the suspect’s arrest. I will be the first to congratulate a good investigation, but we can only hope this fugitive will not hurt anybody because of the delay in his arrest.
