Woman, Five Kids Injured In I-10 Rollover Crash

June 1, 2018

Six people, including five children, were injured Thursday in a crash on I-10 between the Highway 29 and Davis Highway exits.

The Florida Highway Patrol said 26-year old Keandra Winley of Pensacola was driving a 2005 Dodge Durango eastbound on I-10 when the left rear tire blew out. Winley lost control, and the vehicle slid across three lanes of travel. The vehicle then struck a guardrail and overturned. The vehicle came to rest on its roof.

Winley and five children ranging in age from 1 to 10 were injured. Four including Winley suffered minor injuries, while a 4-year old and 6-year old were seriously injured. All were transported to Sacred Heart hospital.

Winley was charged by the FHP with driving with a suspended license and a child restraint violation.

Hmmmmm….I drove around on a suspended license for two years. (Unknowingly, of course). Some kind of glitch in the DOT system. It seems to be way more common than people think.

And kids, they unbuckle themselves constantly…at least mine did. It sounds like folks have the young lady guilty without hearing her side yet.

    And….we haven’t heard it.

I hope they make a quick recovery.

Unlike the person above I don’t care if it offends anyone; if your not taking the responsibility of protecting your children you shouldn’t be allowed to be a parent. I will admit I don’t know all the details so I reserve this to an “ if/then” statement just in case she was ticketed for a loose car seat or incorrect buckling or something. I think that all rights should be in question when a child’s safety is disregarded blatantly. Too many people in this world see their children and family as a paycheck and not the precious loved ones that need guidance and attention to become quality members of society. I hope investigation yields that she did properly buckle her children and facts were just misconstrued, but in the case that she did not she should be charged with neglect and possibly manslaughter if the child perished due to it’s injuries. Sad case here where no one wins.

Love your children enough to buckle them in…why would anyone ever take that kind of chance with the most precious being there is

I am sorry if this comment offends anyone, but I feel like if you are stupid enough to drive on a suspended license and break the law AND cause a horrible accident such as this one, AND not have your children in a car seat or restraints, not to mention the other drivers on the road that could have been hurt, then your tail should go to jail! She is d**n lucky that all of them even survived! My heart goes out to the children and I pray for a speedy recovery for ALL of them.

Driving on a suspended license and not caring enough about the young ones being properly restrained. That says it all about this adult
