Markquise DeShawn Wallace Wanted For Deadly Hit And Run

June 14, 2018

An arrest warrant has been issued Markquise DeShawn Wallace for the deadly hit and run that killed an 8-month old and a woman in a hit and run last week.

Wallace, 25, rented the Dodge Challenger involved in the crash from Hertz Rental and he was traveling at least 90 miles per hour before he struck them, Pensacola Police said Thursday morning. The vehicle was recovered Wednesday  on “T’ Street near Bobe Street in Escambia County.

“Marquis, we have every available resource looking for you,” Pensacola Police Chief Tommi Lyter said. “You are the number one public enemy of the Pensacola Police Department…every available resource is out looking for you. We know you are scared, do the right thing.”

Lyter and State Attorney Bill Eddins said Wallace has a criminal history including arrests for battery, burglary, larceny and domestic violence. He was wearing an ankle monitor, but he cut the monitor off Wednesday. Eddins said he cut off the ankle monitor sometime yesterday and has been on the run.

He was last seen driving a gray Lexus 350 Sport 4-door with burgundy interior. His last known address was in the 7200 block of Fairfield Drive.

Three people were crossing Cervantes Street near M Street when they were hit by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Neariaah Ikerria Williams, age 8 months,  and a family friend, 28-year-old Nephateria Monique Williams, died. The child’s mother, 27-year-old Quineka Tyon Baldwin, was injured.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call 911, the Pensacola Police Department, or Crime Stoppers at (850) 433-STOP.

The reason I said this, is he has a history of renting cars, and once your license is scanned by a car rental company if it later becomes revoked or suspended it will be flagged so the next time you attempt to rent a car your denied. That’s how it was explained to me by two local rental agencies.

  2. Adam on June 15th, 2018 11:55 pm

Stumpknocker, when they suspend a person’s license’, they do not physically take them. As seen on Cops, the police ask for your license and go call it in. That is when they find out it is a suspended license. So he would still be able to produce a license for the rental agency.

  3. Stumpknocker on June 15th, 2018 9:42 pm

Wonder how he rented a car with suspended license, I’ve worked over 30 years in the same job fantastic credit and no accidents nor tickets ever and I get asked all kinds of questions and have to show proof of everything and then I get a car.

Also anyone who aids him in hiding from law enforcement should be prosecuted and definitely made an example of.

I would like to point out there are people seriously pushing the idea of hiding previous criminal history because it is harder to get a job when people can distrust people who have previously violated trust. They contemplate in very abstract whereas this is a very concrete example that the past doesn’t really go away.

    David for reason

Judges have to let someone go at least 20 times to wait for the big crime.

  6. Denice on June 15th, 2018 3:26 am

    MASTER MECHANIC

It is as simple as charging a customer for a service never rendered.

  8. Chrstefl on June 15th, 2018 12:43 am

Surprised? Absolutely not! Our justice system has failed. The victims anymore are the culprits. It reminds me of “wrong place at the wrong time”. There is no solace for the victims. They are always criticized for happening in the err. So what if they crossed the road in an ” inconspicuos place”. The indecent was driving well above the posted limit. He is an animal with no regard for anything or anyone other than himself. Poor little coward is running now, from the law, because he is too scared to face the consequences. Run Run little punk. ECSO will eventually get you. My condolences to the family. The real victims! My condolences for the ignorant critics. Live a little before you pass judgement on the innocence. Walk a little by means of contracting another’s emotion. Never compare your thoughts to someone else’s ability to
compromise as you would. We are all in this together. We should be protecting one another instead of passing judgement. Get out of the box and get for real.

If he’s innocent he would have stayed with the family he hit & helped them. He’s a coward!

    @william2
What world do you live in

  15. Stumpknocker on June 14th, 2018 7:49 pm

@William2 no he may have not started his night with intentions of taking 2 innocent lives, he just started his night not caring about anyone’s life, his own behavior shows that. To include his past criminal record, this is the way this individual operates, not caring, look him up William2 maybe you can visit him in jail and help him out with his attorney fees. And yes I’m judging him by his own actions, because that’s what we do as humans everyday whether we realize/admit it.

  16. EMD on June 14th, 2018 7:20 pm

Evil? Drugs? Mental Illness? Brain Tumor? Alcohol? Demon Possession? Depression? We just don’t know? Many suppositions to choose from. No matter what we believe or what is the truth. this was a horrible, horrible, unspeakable, devastating horror!

  17. DLowe70 on June 14th, 2018 7:05 pm

Great to hear they have the car and looking for the driver. I pray for peace for the Mother and Family, but the others that need prayers are the first responders. I work with the two who were retuning from dropping a patient off atBaptist and who were literally sitting right at the scene when this piece of #%*^ ran these people over. They had a split second decision of who could be treated and transported and who could not. From my first hand experience that’s something that will stay with you forever. So please keep them in your prayers, not just these two but all first responders which include Dispatchers, Police, Fire and EMT and Paramedics and may not seem like much but a simple Thank You!!!! Has more meaning than you will ever know.

  18. phillip on June 14th, 2018 6:51 pm

William2 this person is evil and a coward, the adult woman he killed was a felon in her own right but at least you should have concern for the child.

  19. tooma on June 14th, 2018 6:24 pm

Just like when the story first ran, he’s on the run and there’s some out there that know where this scumbag is or his last whereabouts. Find him, try him, convict him.

  21. Muriel finger on June 14th, 2018 6:20 pm

I honestly don’t think this man intentionally meant to do any harm my heart goes out for all involved because not just a mother lost her child at 8 months old but a mother just lost their child that is 25 so a lot of people suffering right now it just makes me love my girls even more and thankful they’re all okay my prayers goes to everybody involved in this situation

  22. Anne on June 14th, 2018 6:14 pm

    @ William 2
Surely you’re just trying to elicit more responses with your comments here.

You must fully know that “Marquise” was wearing an ankle monitor for a domestic abuse charge that is pending in court and that he cut that off to make his run from responsibility. If he is really a good person he would have stopped after hitting the people in the roadway.

A local news agency fills in that “The State Attorney said Wallace has a long criminal history, both a juvenile and adult arrest records including felonies.”

  23. Matchbox on June 14th, 2018 5:05 pm

@William2….you would be singing a different tune had this been your baby and wife…he doesn’t care obviously he has already been arrested for domestic violence…so I’m not real sure how far one has to go in your book to constitute being labeled evil

  25. MyThoughts on June 14th, 2018 4:52 pm

This guy knows the family he could of came to them he didn’t he is very heartless has no remorse he also attended the candlelight. Knowing that he attended the candlelight and didn’t say anything just breaks my heart into pieces. I understand he may be scared but to know you hit a child and another person then come to the candlelight and watch the family grieve shows that he didn’t care. How can you hit a child two people at that & not stop to check on them better yet how can you just do that and continue to live life I’m so upset and disgusted Rip Baby Girl & Nephie

  26. Vikingwench on June 14th, 2018 4:43 pm

@William 2: Not evil? What constitutes evil to you? He was on bail for a domestic violence charge, was wearing an ankle monitor that he cut off, and has a pretty lengthy criminal history for his age. Most of it showing absolutely no regard for the safety and possessions of others – breaking and entering, theft, battery, and others.

  27. Rene’ on June 14th, 2018 4:32 pm

This is a sad story all around .2 people lost their lives. It was an accident, one that he will pay for. Hopefully he turns himself in before another person gets hurt or killed

  28. whatever on June 14th, 2018 4:28 pm

    @william2:

Cutting off an ankle brace and running from the law is the very definition of rebellion, which is evil behavior. His behavior is reprehensible and took the lives of two innocents, one of them a small baby. The fact that a person can defend the likes of such an individual indicates either A) a predisposal to the same type of behavior or B) the statement comes from Family. Either way, it’s nauseating. I’ll be glad when the find this guy and justice catches up with him!

I pray he will turn himself in!!!!

  31. mike on June 14th, 2018 3:47 pm

you are taking your life in your hands just walking down the street anymore, don’t do it. if broke down, stay in yr vehicle and call a tow service. if forced to walk, stay to the extreme side of the right of way and never attempt to cross except at an intersection. never assume there is not some idiot coming. the average driver has very little situational awareness, always keep that in mind.

i’d say get yourself one of those orange vests, but then you have a target for drivers to look at, and drivers tend to steer towards what they are looking at, not good. be safe, stay off the streets if possible. and remember, parents tend to think that the streets are a playground in the subdivisions.

what fool rented this guy a challenger? :(

  32. Mary on June 14th, 2018 2:35 pm

@William2: What constitutes “evil” in your book? Cut off his ankle monitor, ran down a BABY and kept on running. He’s 25 years old…old enough to know better!

  33. MR REALITY on June 14th, 2018 2:15 pm

94 mph in a 35 zone…what did he expect to happen?

  34. William2 on June 14th, 2018 2:03 pm

Anne, I don’t believe this guy is any more evil than you are, he made a mistake that took 2 lives, he’s scared , that doesn’t mean he’s evil. I’m sure he didn’t start his night with intentions of running someone down.

  35. My2Cents on June 14th, 2018 12:42 pm

I hope they catch him soon. This is such a sad story.

  36. anne 10f2 on June 14th, 2018 12:36 pm

The Lord is shaking his head and telling me I know how to pray better than this. I just don’t want him to kill anyone else. He has no conscience. We are all in danger
with him on the loose. Prayers are what we have right now to fight this evil human.

Nothing ever happened to the driver that hit a guy on the bridge. Took his leg off. They found her car parked in her yard. She said she wasn’t driving.

I got a feeling someone somewhere is missing their Dodge Challenger.

  44. George on June 14th, 2018 6:26 am

The driver ditched the vehicle so they could claim it was stolen, I’m sure

  45. Mike Amerson on June 14th, 2018 6:14 am

I’ll bet the owner will say the vehicle was stolen and they just didn’t bother reporting it.

Fantastic news that the white Dodge Charger has been recovered. Another impressive job by law enforcement.
