Mr. James Earl Waters, age 68, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018 in Pensacola, Florida.
Mr. Waters was born in Ruskin, FL and has resided in Flomaton, AL for most of his life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, serving with the United States Marine Corp, avid coon hunter and was a member of the Northwest Florida Coon Hunters Association. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Sims; mother, Margie Waters; father, Jimmy Waters; mother-in-law, Mazie Jewel Hanks; four brother-in-laws, Det Hanks, Ken Hanks, Wayne Griffis and Arnold Averett; two sister-in-laws, Mary Griffis and Jeanne Baggett and a nephew, Chad Hanks.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Tiny Waters of Flomaton, AL; one son, Jamie (Dean) Waters of Flomaton, FL; one daughter, Ashley Lee of Flomaton, AL; two special grandsons, Ryder Lee and Brayden Lee of Flomaton, AL; three brothers, Donnie Waters of Flomaton, AL, Bruce (Sherry) Waters of Flomaton, AL and Kevin (Lori) Waters of Fairbanks, AK; two sisters, Gloria (Jimmy) Weatherford of Atmore, AL and Janie (Terry) Knowles of Century, FL; four grandchildren, Dak Sims, Haley Sims, Emily Waters and Payton Waters and one great grandchild, Adelina “Little Texas” Sims.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 1, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Carnley and Bro. Joe Macks officiating.
Burial will follow at the Godwin Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 6:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Waters, Shane Waters, Bryan Waters, Dak Sims, David Jernigan, Sammie Portwood and Travis Moye.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Fred Johnson, Wade Harris, Konner Wood, Dale Scott and Josh Jones.
