Three Arrested In Walnut Hill Double Shooting (With New Details)

June 4, 2018

Three people have been arrested in connection with a double shooting in Walnut Hill Sunday.

Christopher Alan Stacey, 37, was charged with homicide and attempted homicide. His son Christopher James Logan Stacey, 18, and Alexis Ileene Shiffner Cain, 21, were each charged with accessory to homicide and accessory to attempted homicide. Christopher Allen Stacey was being held without bond; Christopher James Logan Stacey and Cain were being held with bond set at $150,000 each.

Their arrests came after two men were found shot in the head near Atmore Sunday morning.

Dalton Davis was found dead in a truck in Brushy Creek on Deere Creek Road, and Troy Boutwell was found near the road after crawling from the truck, according to an arrest report. He was transported to Atmore Community Hospital and then airlifted to the USA Medical Center in Mobile in critical condition.

Alabama detectives learned that Boutwelll had been at his friend’s house in the 5900 block of Highway 164, just east of Highway 97 in Walnut Hill. Deputies responded to find the three suspects and another individual in the home.

An Escambia County, FL, investigator was contacted by Atmore Police to relay information on the shooting location. He instructed deputies to respond to the home where they found a couch burning in the backyard (photo below). Deputies extinguished the fire. Victim Boutwell later said he was shot on the couch in the home’s living room of the home, which is about nine miles from where the men were found with the truck.

According to the report, an AR-15 was found in one of the bedrooms and a 12 gauge shotgun was found in another bedroom. The report does not specify if either was the murder weapon. A bullet hole was found in an interior wall.

Christopher Alan Stacey was seated on a bucket across the road from the residence watching as investigators processed the crime scene, while his son sat a wooden chair in front of a neighboring home (both pictured below). Cain was placed in the back of an ECSO patrol vehicle as investigators worked.

Florida investigators also responded to the truck at Brushy Creek on Deere Creek Road in Alabama to process that crime scene with Alabama agencies.  The straight-line location of the truck was about 1,000 feet north of Alabama-Florida State line.

Christopher Alan Stacey is the ex-husband of the witness and resides with her at the home on Highway 164. Boutwell told law enforcement that he was shot because of an argument with her ex-husband. The son, Christopher James Logan Stacey, also resides in the home, the report states.

Further details were redacted from the arrest reports by the State Attorney’s Office.

Some people without brains do an awful lot of talking about things they do not know..

I grew up with Logan and it’s a shame what can happen in someone’s life, never would have thought this of him… thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims

@MichelleHenderson It is now summer time. Traditionally, homicides jump everywhere around the world during summer. The high heat adds a level of uncomfortableness to a person and if they do not drink enough water, they can act impulsively and do very irrational things. Just imagine a fit of rage, while standing in that summer heat for days on end. Also, lack of education and having a job would help these things from happening. A job would keep someone away from whomever and mentally concentrated on other things. I believe this will happen more often, especially here in Escambia.

They committed this heinous crime because they were dehydrated? The heat or lack of water didn’t have anything to do with this. It was domestic related violence in its worst form and these morally bankrupt people will pay for their crimes. Don’t try and give them a physiological excuse for this horrible crime

    @ Just saying

I was just repeating that hogwash about the heat is justifiable for causing people to make irrational things. It was a jab. (from Henderson’s message.) Instead of just personally calling him/her out on it. I’m sure that everyone else’s message was meant the same. AND, I’m far from being an idiot. A person needs to be really careful when name calling. There’s a time when things are better left unsaid, and you calling people idiots is totally uncalled for. Concentrate on the story and those individuals, instead of worrying about everyone NOT involved.

    REGARDING:
“most of these stone throwers will show up on Sunday pretending to be good Christians.”

There is something wrong with the practice of condemning those who condemn the practice of murder under the theory that it is wrong to condemn others.

There is also something wrong with refusing to condemn murder because that amounts to approving murder and rejecting biblical rejection of murder.

But don’t let me stop you. You are free to reject, free to be wrong.

    David for fewer murders

    @Geneva Parish,

I guess you’ve never been to a house you don’t live in, huh? That was an asinine remark if I’ve ever heard one.

@All the idiots blaming the heat,

I’ve lived in the South all my life, at least half of it with no air conditioning, and never have I lured men to a home, shot them in head, driven them to another location, abandoned them to die and then attempted to destroy the evidence by burning a couch and calmly sat on a bucket across the road to observe the investigators as they tried to figure out what happened! Again, that was a truly asinine remark.

Comments such as these remind me why I left that area…other than a very select few, there is a level of stupidity that is unsurpassed in local residents.

No matter what either of the two victims may or may not have done, this was wrong, any way you look at it. My prayers are with the family of Mr Davis and with Mr Boutwell for a complete recovery.

All in all, those children are in better hands with someone else. Chris will have plenty of time to ponder on whether or not the wife/ex-wife was worth this nonsense. In the mean time, I’m praying for Dalton and Troy’s families and hoping that Troy makes a speedy recovery!

  8. I agree Tonya on June 4th, 2018 10:04 pm

I agree Tonya! What ever happened to the folks who prayed for those who had wandered down the wrong road. The worst part is that most of these stone throwers will show up on Sunday pretending to be good Christians. The good Lord sees all all.

Living in the summer in South Al and Florida it is going to be hot that’s no excuse for anything that happens unless you just get overheated because of working. That’s no excuse for murder. People are just plain mean, selfish, and think of no one but themselves. People do what people want for there own selfish self. These people look like they are really energetic people that they are so lazy lice would not even stay on them. I hate to think of people like that, that even breath the same air as I do. God bless these people because they need it. As for the two that was shot shouldn’t have been there if they didn’t live there but pray for there families of the one that passed away and the one in the hospital. I pray he lives but pray that he changes his life style.

“It was the high heat. living uncomfortable, dehydrated, and not having a job that made their minds toxic and evil.” That’s right, blame everything except the person alleged to have committed the crime.

  11. Mr. Holman on June 4th, 2018 8:42 pm

The burning of the couch was destroying evidence. The penal system will welcome you all with open arms. Criminal actions causing so much pain and grief to so many.

  12. Tonya on June 4th, 2018 7:01 pm

My prayers are with both families and with the man thats fighting for his life.People only care about there self anymore look at all the people they have hurt over stupid crap and they didnt even care who they hurt.

Nice, new truck from Sansing and new Better Built tool box. Need to return those so your smaller children can eat and have a roof over their heads. Maybe get air conditioning per the post I read about the high heat making people do things unreasonable. If that was the reason, the entire County would be running around like rabid wild animals. Everyone better get in a cool environment and drink plenty of water or something liquid. For me it’s iced tea with lemon.

People who commit crimes don’t have a clue what message they are giving to other family members and friends. It’s always been said, that the children suffer the worst.

  14. Tina on June 4th, 2018 4:21 pm

Great dad’s don’t teach their children to be toxic people. The smaller children will be much better without all that evil while growing up.

As for destroying the couch, not a very good job of burning it.

It was the high heat. living uncomfortable, dehydrated, and not having a job that made their minds toxic and evil.

  15. chris on June 4th, 2018 3:42 pm

I thought daddies took their sons fishing, or maybe built dog houses together. Strange how traditions evolve over the years.

  16. neighbor on June 4th, 2018 11:47 am

Nothing really surprises me anymore! But it’s really sad, what a young life taken and the other man laying in the hospital clinging to life because a senseless argument. Def. drug related i know these people and their addictions because i live around them. i hate that it’s come down to people losing their lives. What a great dad setting a good example, even more sad that he has more smaller children that will grow up knowing what a “great” person their dad is. just sad. Prayers for the victims and their families. And hopefully justice will be served here and with our maker.

  17. TJ on June 4th, 2018 11:29 am

@Howie, Boutwell was shot on that couch, so they were trying to get rid of evidence. Tampering with evidence will also get them a stiffer sentence.

  18. Fisher on June 4th, 2018 11:21 am

@ atmoredude… u r so right.! I fish at that bridge , or DID. I doubt I will go there again anytime soon, bc it just won’t feel the same.. But there are houses within walking distance both ways and it is a pretty busy stretch of country road.. WHAT WERE THOSE FOLKS THINKING?!!

  19. TJ on June 4th, 2018 11:16 am

What a convoluted mess this is! Prayers for the victims and their families, but I have no sympathy for any of the others, murder is not the answer.

  20. ShanShan on June 4th, 2018 11:16 am

That’s my best friend Dalton Davis y’all took my heart when y’all took him fly high baby boy ShanShan will see u again daltdalt

  21. Howie on June 4th, 2018 10:41 am

Yeah, you will see him/her behind bars. Don’t get your hopes up, that is all changing soon.

Since they hid the bodies (thinking both were dead) that carries a much severe sentence. It was God’s will to allow the one to live and speak to authorities about it. They didn’t do a good job of hiding themselves, as in sitting across the road from the crime scene. Why was the sofa recently burned, so maybe a piece of evidence they tried to destroy ???

It’s much easier to live a good life, then to sit around and think about bad things to do to people and against people.

    Exodus 21:12
“Whoever strikes a man so that he dies shall be put to death’”

I’m praying for the families! I just do not see them doing anything like this . This is insane. I pray it’s not them!!! God be with them!!!!!

@Avis – You must not know the area very well…that stretch of Deere Creek Road is anything but desolate. That is why someone drove by and found the survivor near the road and called for an ambulance. That stretch of Deere Creek Road has hundreds of cars travel through there daily. These three are absolute evil and hilariously stupid for thinking they were “hiding” the bodies in this area. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims.

    >That stretch of Deer Creek Rd across Brushy Creek is a desolate area. There’s no >telling what kind of criminal activity has taken place there over the years.

How sad our Nokomis is not safe anymore. Also sad that no reports it was actually in Nokomis.
